Went here today. I usually get the Greek salad but was in the mood for protein so thought I'd try the Hula - mushrooms and cheese - burger. The wait person asked me if I wanted it medium, I said ok. When the burger came I cut it in half. The meat was all red and looked more rare than even meduum rare. Wait person asked me how it was, I showed the inside of the burger and said this isn't even medium rare. WP said that's what we call here, medium. I pulled out my smart phone and showed a page with pictures of rare, medium rare, medium, and medium well. She said what I got was their medium. Next spoke with the manager. She said the same thing. I also told the manager the mushrooms were not drained so the bottom bun was totally soggy with oil. The wait person and manager both admitted this was a different medium than other places they had worked. The manager tried to tell me a burger medium is not the same as a steak medium. Well what I'm reading is steak can safely just be cooked on the outside but hamburger should me cooked to destroy bacteria. My point was If a medium is not really a medium, you shouldn let the customer know before hand rather than redoing orders all day long. Most people would say nothing, walk out, and never come back. Maybe the health dept advises they don't go less than medium so people like medium rare, they just call it medium.
they have good food here....although I would have liked to have them keep their lunch specials......it's a little bit on the pricey side for a semi-fast food restaurant....
still, I go their couple of times a month
If Gilligan opened a burger joint, this would be it. – The Scene
With thatched umbrellas, photos of crashing waves, stuffed toucans and a soundtrack of twangy '60s surf-rock, it doesn't take a genius to figure out this chain's theme. Yep, it's beach, burgers and plenty of kitsch. The jovial atmosphere and service (not to mention a full-service bar) lures lunching business folk, beer-drinking college students and families with food-throwing toddlers.
Like the decor, the menu is a no-brainer--sandwiches, salads, fries and burgers. Served in a basket with fork and knife, thick beef patties come grilled to order with lettuce, tomato and any variety of extras. For a lighter bite, try one of the soft tacos. Filled with either fish or chicken, the wraps are inauthentic, but tasty. Yaki tacos are stuffed with teriyaki chicken, chives, pineapple and jack cheese. Whatever you order, don't forget the fries. These hand-cut, super-crispy sticks are addicting, especially when dipped in creamy ranch dressing.
