Unique and Lots of Fun!!! – If you are visiting St Louis, this is really worth going to. It's fun for the kids and it makes adults feel like kids again. It really sparks your imagination. It's a great place to spend your Saturday afternoon.
The outside features were actually scary for me to climb up in. They are really high up there. You will see what I mean when you go there if you haven't been.
My kids like best the part with all of the ramps that they can run up and slide down.
Awesome! – If you haven't been to the City Museum, you need to go! Fun for kids and adults!
The Greatest Place on Earth – The City Museum is one of the coolest places that you will ever visit. This place has mazes and fun house mirrors, a juggling circus, artwork, an aquarium. You will find a tree house jungle gym, caves, a giant whale, restaurants and bars, as well as a giant slide an a crazy outdoor playground.
It is absolutely amazing here! There are lofts above the museum and the place is conveniently located downtown.
Amazing! – This place is AMAZING! It's not what you expect out of a museum at all. The roof top is mouth dropping because of the school bus that hangs off the edge of the building so you are able to go all the way to the front of the bus and sit in the driver's seat and look out at St. Louis.
And the slides...the slides...too many to count and too many to try to conquer if you are not wearing appropriate foot wear.
That place makes every adult feel like they are a kid again because you climb through sky high works of art that you can't imagine to think of where they will take you.
Most Interesting & Inventive Museum – The City Museum is absolutely incredible; I have travelled all over the U.S. and enjoyed many museums but I have to say this one is my favorite. From the amazing art which doubles as climbing, crawling, sliding, peering.....to the aquarium and the shoelace factory, the City Museum is truly individual.
Exhibits range from old St Louis architectural details to a room where the children build towers from old plastic jugs and then crash into them with abandon. (They all LOVE this very low tech room.) There are tunnels overhead, caves to crawl in and through, 2 slides--a 5 story one and a 10 story one (I'll do the 10 story next time; the 5 story one was lots of fun). The shoelace factory gives an inexpensive souvenier to take home in colors of your choice--I'm sporting purple/yellow ones on my walking shoes. I loved the poster art. Food choices are limited and expensive but the HUGE local handpacked ice cream cone was worth the price.
I am 63 and enjoyed every minute here, although I found I was exhausted after 5 hours. Everyone should try this museum at least once but do be prepared to walk a LOT, and expect a sensory overload. I'll be back next month to experience the Rooftop as well.
excellent place for all who have an imagination – this place is one of a kind. it is an art gallery that you are encouraged to climb on. the cost may be high for food and admission, but how would you survive if it were you running the place? bring a cooler and tailgate... you can re-enter with your wrist band. The many tunnels (NOT TUNNEL TOWN) are a blast to explore. Oh did anyone mention the SEVEN STORY SPIRAL SLIDE? awsome!!! If you have an open mind you will come back to this treasure a few times and recommend it often. You can read the posts of previous reviewers on this site, but, don't believe a complaining word from a negative thoughtmaker. Great spot for blind/first date. Bring your kids ages 3 thru retirement home and see their face light up! If you are lucky you will meet the ambassador. His name is Charlie. He is a true gem of a human being.
It was Okay – There was lots of different things you don't see everyday. Most was good, went in with really high expectations so they were dashed a bit. Do NOT eat the food there! WAY overpriced... $5 for a kids PBJ!!
for the young and young at heart – this place is amazing for young and young at heart fun for everyone lots of climbing and crawling and the architecture is absolutely breath taking i garuntee you will spend half the day in this place
Discovery Zone for big kids! – Like a grown up "Discovery Zone" (on acid). It's M.C. Escher meets Salvador Dali...Great for kids, but a really fun place to take a date who's up for something unusual. Downtown near plenty of restaurants and clubs.
It's where a big kid can be a kid...Makes you want to crawl, climb, play and discover....Bob Cassily rocks!
Can't wait to go see the Giant Pencil. Sure "museum" is a misnomer, but exactly what word would you use to describe a mult-story fun house that makes you say "wow" at every turn. Check out the glass blowing demo if you get a chance. Great fun!
coolest place ever! – my 10 year old liked it better than 6 flags and disneyworld! My husband and I went back alone 2 days later so we could explore the architecheral museum.worth a trip to st. louis if you have any appreciation for art.Weekend nites are probably not the best for young children, too many teenagers.
