Years ago I used to eat at Talayna's all the time...not this location but same menu.

The location was perfect since we were going to a movie at the Chase and my friend was in the mood for pasta.

We were both really disappointed. I was prepared for the interior to look a bit tired and even a tad dirty based on reviews. I could have lived with that if the food had rocked.

It didn't.

And the service left a lot to be desired too.

I ordered cheese garlic bread and a combination salad with Caesar dressing. He ordered lasagna.

First they brought the regular bread, which was good. Hot and tasty. My friend was pretty hungry and ate it up, and they never offered to bring more.

Then they brought my salad...keep in mind that my salad was my entree so it really should have come when they brought out my friend's dinner. And they definitely should have started us with the appetizer...the cheese garlic bread. But no, first came my salad. About 7 or 8 minutes later came the cheesy bread. Then almost 10 minutes later came my friend's lasagna. At this point, we were almost late for the movie and we had to flag down our waiter to get a check even though he only had a couple of tables. He came off like he was new or really badly trained.

Next, the food. Maybe my tastes have changed. I used to like the cheese garlic bread and the salad croutons, but both were just dripping in grease/butter. Way overkill. The salad was fine otherwise, and I really do love the Caesar dressing. The lasagna was just blah per my friend. Just bland sauce, noodles, meatballs and tons of cheese. No seasoning to make it stand out.

Talayna's seems to think that all they need to do is give you huge portion sizes and people will be happy. The menu even brags that a pasta can serve 2-4 people. Not sure I think that's something to brag about. Why not do better quality food and normal portion sizes that won't keep all of us overweight.

I did love the pizza in the past, and walking by a table with a thin crust sausage pizza, I realized that it's the only thing I'll ever get at Talayna's again. At a different location...not going back to this one.

It really does need a makeover. If I was going on decor and service, it would have gotten 1 star. The food wasn't terrible and it was convenient to have a parking lot at a restaurant near the CWE, so I decided to be generous and give it 2.

Carry Out service is a joke! Appear friendly though Dirty & Slow.

Best thin crust pizza in the world! – This St. Louis thin crust makes my mouth water. I normally burn the roof of my mouth when I eat it because I can't wait for it to cool off. The atmosphere is eclectic, as they've brought a lot of the things from the original location at the northeast corner of Forest Park Parkway and Skinker Boulevard, across from Washington University.

Our ONLY Spot for Pizza – Takes us 35 minutes to get there. WELL worth the trip, whether dining in or carry out, it's THE ONLY place we go for pizza. And the staff? Always friendly. Always courteous. We love Talayna's!

great customer service and highly addicting delicious food! – I love this place, Talayna's has the best house dressing, the creamy Italian. so good. The thin crust is 50% better tasting than Imos too, they make there crust fresh every day, while Imos uses a conveyor belt and assembly line creates there pizzas. I will always come back to eat here for the rest of my life. The managers are always stopping by to give samples and making sure our experience is excellent, and it always is. My favorite server is Sarah, she always takes good care of us when our family of five comes in. I enjoy coming in after Twilight Tuesday at the History Museum with my 1/2 price pizza coupons that are handed out during the show. Also, they have the tastiest summer frozen bar drinks. I have nothing bad to say about this classic Italian pizza restaurant. It is not only pizza either, they have amazing Porter house steaks, Cod and Fett with sea food. I rate it a ten, and recommend it to all my friends, but most everyone already knows its a great treat.

horrible service great food – Talayna's at the Park looks as though it is falling apart. Almost the entire wait staff all seemed to be high on something - and I'm not kidding. Service was slow, insincere, and sketchy. The bar area is unusually better lit than the dining area - I'm talking bright lights. I seriously felt like I had entered into the twilight zone/bizarre-o land. The food, however, is awesome. I had the pizza and garlic cheese bread and both were great. I suggest carry-out although be prepared to be put on hold for a while before placing your order.

Chicago-style not so Chicago-style anymore – I'd been going to Talayna's once or twice a year since 1996 (at their old location) to get my Chicago-style pizza fix when I couldn't get up to Chicago, and the last visit was my last visit. The service has always been horrible, whether the place was busy or empty, but I always forgave that because it beat a 9-hour round trip to get good pizza. Our group got toasted raviolis for an appetizer because there was someone in our party who was from out-of-town and hadn't had them. They were great. The pizza, however, was not served in a pan because it clearly was not necessary. Gone was the pizza with substance and the plentiful tomato chunks, and it was replaced with the thinnest, most sickly-looking Chicago/St. Louis hybrid pizza. Now I must find a new source of Chicago-style pizza in St. Louis.

mr.nessedub – The best thin crust pizza in the world. The pizza crust can not be matched by other thin crust Pizza in St. Louis. If you like Imo's you will flip over this pizza. Get a coupon from a Schnucks receipt in Ladue. Also every other kind of pizza is excellent. You can not go wrong. The resturant is not fancy though and could use some updates but forget about that and just concentrate on the Pizza!!!
