GREAT PLACE--but, give yourself plenty of time and be aware there is NOTHING ELSE OUT THERE... – I went to the Record Exchange while on vacation, and the description made it sound as if there would be shopping in the area for my family to peruse while I wallowed in vinyl heaven.

Uh, no. The only shopping in the neighborhood (somewhat off the beaten St. Louis path) was for insurance, manicures and headstones--so I had to transport my family to a Target several blocks away to give them something to do (which limited my time at the store).

Once I finally got back, I had an hour to work with--and I needed twelve. The store is an astounding collection of the popular and the unknown...you literally need to schedule yourself some serious time to do the place justice. Even though it looks chaotic, items are well organized, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Their 45 rpm collection is astounding and rather intimidating, but well worth the hunt if you have the time. Prices are reasonable, and I found some quality deals in my limited time there.

The Verdict--A TREMENDOUS site for the vinyl enthusiast, but give yourself some browsing time, and don't be lookin' for anything else in the neighborhood.

Serious vinyl aficionados welcome. – The Skinny
Tucked amid the resale shops and taquer?as on this stretch of Cherokee Street lies one of the city's two Record Exchange stores. Vinyl is the order of the day, so if you're looking for the latest--rather than the greatest--you've come to the wrong place.

The Crowd
Old guys browsing for classics stand around while DJs and college kids comb the stacks looking for their own personal holy grail--or maybe just a Sam Cooke album.
