good grooming – I have been taking my little spaneil to Mary's for 15 years. He had had bad experiences at other shops and Mary made him feel right at home. In fact he gets exited to go when I tell him that it is time. His cut is always emaculate and he is happy when he is there. I have no idea what these other people are talking about. I know that she employs some of the latest techiniqes and has an invalid sling for older dogs who have trouble standing up (like my baby) Her shop is a small neighborhood shop and if you feel you need a Paris Hilton doggie day spa maybe you would be better off in West County. I shall contine to take my pets to Mary's as she knows what she is doing and she is reasonalbe in price. My vet recomended her and I now have 3 that gladly go to visit "Aunt Mary" on a regular basis.
Terrible Experience – I started taking my two small dogs there about 5 months ago. Initially, they were cut well. I found Mary's Grooming to be small and dingy. Her prices were quite a bit higher than the competition, but the first few cuts were nice. I did see animals with masks on and trussed up in what looked like very uncomfortable positions on the cutting table, but assumed that this was just the case with unruly animals. Visit before last, one of my dogs came home with a terrible allergic reaction. Since I take special (and quite expensive) hypo-allergenic shampoo to her shop each time we visit, I called back immediately. My dog was scratching itself raw. She said that she had forgotten to use the special shampoo and that I should bring the dog right back over there to be reshampooed with the correct stuff. That did help, but the haircut was awful. I told her about it and she said that she was going through some rough times, and asked me to give her another chance. I decided to do that. That was the last time we were there. When I picked up my dog, Mary was in conversation with some woman about an upcoming surgery of that woman. I stood there for over 15 minutes (No Exaggeration) while she talked to her about this surgery. When I got my dog, I was already upset. He was cut ok. When I got him home, I noticed that he was not himself at all. I think he was drugged. When he was still that same way the next morning, I took him to my vet who said that he had all the signs of having been given a too strong tranquilizer. I will NEVER set foot in that place again. If there were a formal way to complain and try to get her license revoked, I would be the first in line to file the paperwork. AVOID MARY'S GROOMING AT ALL COSTS. SHE IS A MONSTER. We have found another groomer in the same neighborhood who is a dream. Giving Mary's one star (not recommended) is too much. The place should be closed down. Mary McKee should hang up her shears and give it up.
Terrible Environment, Terrible Grooming – I recently took my small dog to Mary's Pet Grooming in St. Louis and had a terrible experience. The environment looks like a sweat shop, dirty, and dogs hanging in slings as you open the door. It was loud and it smelled bad. The dogs were crated on top of each other (with no where to potty except on the doggie below) and they were given no water during the time my dog was there.
When i picked up my dog she was visibly shaking, very thirsty, had not been taken to potty, looked awful, was not given a bath, was cut unevenly all over, and was not cut how i requested - which was the least of my worries. My dog had a severely red belly (which i guess to be razor burn) and licked her belly for two days following the experience, hid under a chair in my home after I brought her home, and was noticeably distressed.
I don't know what exactly happened, but i felt awful for leaving my dog there and it was a terrible experience. I sincerely want to warn others that are looking for a groomer in the area not to trust your pet to this groomer.
