A hidden gem in Creve Coeur – OMG the food is amazing!! A group of us came in for lunch and among the things we ordered were a veggie wrap with salmon, BBQ chicken pizza on a sourdough crust, and I had a ham & swiss panini. Everything is made fresh and they serve very generous portions. In addition lunch was served with a free dessert. The staff was very friendly and although there was a long line it moved quickly. I will definitely be back again...and again. Just wanted to share my great experience and recommend Pastries of Denmark for lunch...the desserts and cupcake bar looked amazing too, but I haven't tried them yet. I'll save that for next time.
Don't waste your time or money on this place – I found Pastries of Denmark on line while searching for a place to buy cupcakes for a friends 50th birthday party. When I initially called to order I had questions about the cubcakes. When I asked my questions they were met with a sigh by the clerk who told me to check the website and call back. I did this and called back regarding having something special written on them. I was told to talk to mgr, Holly, who came to the phone and stated she was much to busy with lunch and could I call back. I did and was again met with rude indifference. I was told they would be ready by 10 am the next day. I arrived at 10:30 and they were not ready, the mgr hurried the order, the 4 cupcakes I wanted in one box were placed in a box with no dividers. When I arrived at the party they were a mess and running into each other. I'm not sure how this place stays in business with their rude attitudes and total indifference to customers. I won't be back.
I will never go there again. – I have been coming to Pastries of Denmark for a little over a year. I've never had any serious problems, with the exception of them always running out of bread and other items like chicken (chicken is on almost 50% of their menu, how do you not make sure you have enough?!) and lettuce. ETC... until about a week or so ago when while I, along with a few other customers were standing at the counter and the owner came out and started cursing loudly at who I can assume is the manager. Telling her she was incompetent and was talking about money. I was completely offended and appalled at this behavior. I will never support an establishment that treats their employees that way, or who shows complete disregard for it's customers.
Rude service, arrogant owner – My husband and I had gone here a few times and I thought the food was good. I always ordered the lemon ginger chicken pita without the sprouts, cucumbers or the
tzak. sauce. I cannot stand cucumbers. This particular day, I had surgery early in the morning. Later in the afternoon my husband called in an order for us, as I really wanted the pita. He went to pick it up, which is not right down the road, and brought it home. When I opened it, they left everything on the pita. They did not leave off the sprouts, tzak. sauce or the cucumber like he had asked them to do. He drove back and explained to them what had happened, and the lady said "Well the tzak. sauce is the best part." I thought that was really rude. NOT everybody likes it, and aside from that, they left the other stuff on it. They finally made a new one and did not apologize or anything. So, by the time he got home with my second pita, his french dip was cold. I called them and asked for an apology and basically was told that she was sorry that we felt the way we did, but not sorry for their error. Also, the chicken was so over microwaved that it was disgusting. The owner was standing right there when my husband went back in mind you, and he said nothing. I guess he doesn't care about his business reputation too much.
Don't be fooled by the name – Yes, this place has great pastries, but it also serves a varied menu. Think upscale Panera with better food. My daughter and I had lunch there after taking in a movie at the nearby theatre. I had the salmon pannini and my daughter had a barbecue pizza. The portions were very generous, included a small salad and pastry, the food was very fresh and flavorful, and the service was friendly. As others have commented, it has a pleasant European ambience. I gather it can be crowded for lunch during the week, but it was very quiet when we were there on a Saturday. They also have a breakfast and dinner menu.
Best sandwich I've ever had!! – I went to Pastries of Denmark with a friend for lunch. The turkey club sandwich I ordered was not only very generous in size, but it was the tastiest sandwich I've ever had! I think the secret was the very fresh bread, but really it went beyond even that. All the ingredients where fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was very european too!
Step into Denmark – Great staff. Its like being in Denmark, very authentic. Unbelievable fine pastries. You won't see this stuff anywhere else in St. Louis. Breakfast is delicious...especially the European styled items. Great coffee and pastries too. Best place to buy Bread in Creve Coeur!
save room for dessert! – great atmosphere --i think they remodeled recently--and spectacular desserts, including wedding cakes!
Wonderful! – Very yummy, great service! Their pastries are the best! I highly recommend - for lunch or breakfast. Great place to pick up a special dessert too!
