Nice 2nd floor patio eating, price and portions great – I overlooked this eatery many times when driving on Jeffrey Road between the 5 and the 405 going to work. For those familar with that strip of Jeffrey Road, there are so many asian eateries there its hard to know whats worth trying and whats not and for me, whose chosen wrongly a couple times, you become especially weary without a referral from a friend. Heres your referral from a friend: Try out Thai Spice! Its great.

Its on the corner of Jeffrey and Irvine Center Drive - so its a little distanced from the slew of asian cuisiine found on Jeffrey and Walnut just west of the 5 - just an FYI so you dont get lost.

I ate there for dinner. There was a medium sized crowd. Casual atmosphere. Order first and then find a seat on the downstairs patio, indoors first floor, upstairs loft or upstairs balcony - I liked the variety in seating areas. They will bring your food when ready ( or you can of course order "to go"). They do serve Thai as suggested and its cooked by actual Thai looking "aunties" that you can watch from the order counter if you feel so inclined ( I didnt, Im trusting like that ;-) ) The good thing about it thoough for those unsure of if they enjoy Thai food - they have americanized it in a way by offering a variety in their dishes that allows you to moderate the spicyness from deathly hot to completely without heat. I also liked that the portons were a good size - the next time we go my hubby and I will prolly share an entree. Another noteworthy thing is the soup - i get into pro soup phases and while they arent impossible to find with spots like soup plantation in existance, they arent that widely available either. I like the soup offered at Thai Spice. And I dont mean the soup from Pho noodle bowls like you might have seen at other asian eateries. This is an actual soup and its spicy while still smooth - its called Thom Ka Kai - coconut milk, veggies, chicken. highly recommended.
