It both celebrates and offers an in depth look at an often overlooked piece of baseball's history. – The Background
A local hero, Jackie Robinson, arguably the most famous player to ever play in the league, played in Kansas City for the NL Monarchs before becoming the first black player ever to join a white professional baseball team, and he's in good company among Kansas City's rich negro league history. After that historic event, black players began signing contracts and the decline of the Negro League was inevitable.

The "Field of Legends" is the pride and joy of the museum with 12 life-size bronze sculptures representing the key figures in the league's history. There are also several film exhibits and interactive exhibits throughout the gallery.
