Worst salon experience of my life. It would be bad enough if they only ruined my hair, but they were rude and condescending in the process. Generally, nasty and unhelpful. Seemed to be content to take my money with no concern for how my hair actually came out. Terrible experience, will never go back. Potential clients BEWARE! Save your money.
I bought a lifebooker voucher for 2 haircut and blowdries for like $59 and 20% discount yesterday with 10 days possible refund. I called today to see if I could book an appointment.- I spoke with some rude man who answered the phone who said he only had tomorrow at 12 pm to which I replied I work and need an evening appointment- he seemed very annoyed with a bad attitude Then he said he has nothing until late January so I said there would be a problem as I bought 2 and i wait at least 6 months to cut my hair again and the voucher may be expired by 6 months - so I asked him to make an appointment and he said he requires the voucher number now to cash the voucher- I told him I am not paying or cashing the voucher until I receive services- at which he rudely said to go get a refund- and I said why do you bother ? I mean I'm sick of ths useless crap- and waste time - with prepaid voucher if I pay now I am sure if I forgot the date and time of appointment I would definitley lose my money - which is often the goal of those advertising and taking money for prepaid stuff- they are nothing but thieves- quickly I returned the loot at lifebooker and thankfully no problem- on returning- do not buy the loot for shampoo avenue b - it is a big mistake- and this owner - is abusive and thinks he has some kind of entitlement- to steal customers money- he wants to take your money and give nothing- and lifebooker supports that type of business- most of what lifebooker advertises is a scam and you will lose your money
Moved to new york a while ago, and was looking for a new salon. Got a couple of lifebooker ads and really wanted to try Shampoo Avenue B. I called to find out if they have any appointments prior to purchasing the deal...
I talked to "Steve" on a Friday who told me that I cannot book an appointment until Monday, AFTER I buy the lifebooker deal and AFTER the sale is over. When I asked how this could be that I couldn't find out for 3 days if they had any appointments available this month, he hung up on me!
I made an account just to let people know how HORRIBLE the customer service was for a potential long term customer. I won't be coming here!
An Amazing Experience – I bought the Brazilian Blowout through Lifebooker. I also booked a haircut. I went to Aut and she did an amazing job! I came in with extremely frizzy damaged hair. I am multi-ethnic so my texture can be really hard to deal with. I left there with silky, lovely locks and she somehow even managed to keep most of the length. I would recommend this place to anyone!
"Yes we have an appointment, just NOT for YOU". Do not use. – Marylin, the manager was 'booking' my appointment for today (this after trying to book for a MONTH and a half - seriously). They don't open until noon, do not answer the phone and actually request that you email them only to inform that you should call for an appt. Really?? If it wasn't so funny it would be sad that this is how people have to take advantage of a "deal" from Lifebooker.
Next, after I carefully explained to MARYLIN, the MANAGER that I have been trying to get in for a simple color and cut with a recommended stylist she informed that she was once again unavailable but I may try another stylist today at 4pm. "Okay, let's do this". ONLY THING is NOW that upon confirming the appointment before hanging up I mentioned my lifebooker certificate as instructed to and that is when Marylin informed that I could no longer have the appointment today. WTF? And, I do not use foul language, but this was just inane.
I then continued in friendly way to explain that it would really be appreciated if she could make it work as am going on holiday and have tried for all of this time and she steadfastly refused and informed "lifebooker huh?, no we book that differently". "You cannot have this appointment". Nothing like a deal with a shitty salon that makes the deal feel like nothing short of a hassle. No Shampoo avenue b for this otherwise high end salon user, nor will I hope it be for anyone else to use a company with no customer service. Did I mention that I called back briefly so that I could have a name of whom refused this and Marylin in a 'in your face obnoxious type of way that only certain type of folks choose to reply' exaggerated her name, spelled it loudly and made it all to clear - I will leave out my real sentiments. I hope this helps others who are can choose from so many other wonderful places to have your hair done.
You, along with 320 other customers, purchased a $59 Highlight, Cut and Style. Each stylist completes 2 of these services each day to allow for a balance of full paying and promotional clients. These certificates are good for one year, and we have the capacity to complete 12 per day. You have been trying to book for 1.5 months? Why not book an appointment when you call, in advance, like the other 319 have? It's usually a 2 week wait. And yes, we open at Noon and close at 10pm, therefore we don't answer the phone until we open (at Noon, like our website and voicemail states); we are a nighttime salon that offers after work hours. You should check out our 4.5 (out of 5) star rating on Lifebooker if you don't believe that we treat Lifebooker clients well. And if Marilyn slowly spelled out her name with such exaggeration, I would think that you would have spelled it right in your rant.
ABOVE & BEYOND SALON WITH SYLYSE – I went in for Highlights and have a very difficult head of hair to color and from the moment I walked into the salon I was loving every minute of my experience. The hospitable greeting from behind desk and to the nice bottled water i desperately needed in the city heat my first experience at Shampoo Avenue B . A good friend of mine recommended the salon and I am extremely particular about my hair (neurotic one might say). Sylyse, was beyond helpful in comforting with my nerves and assured me that I would leave loving my new hair color and I did!!!! I would go back to Sylyse every day of the week if I could from cut, to color to blow dry I never knew I could be so happy! THANKS SHAMPOO AVE B
AMAZING!!! – Went to get the brazilian keratin treatment..... was sooo pleasantly surprised since I didn't hold out much hope for my hair...I walked out with the softest, shiniest coolest hair EVER..... I would recommend Janaan... she cleaned up the mess the last stylist from a salon in PA left me with....
so.... go there.... see Janaan--- that woman knows what she's doing.....
the staff was incredibly sweet and attentive... love this place
Turned a bad experience into a great one...A+ cust. service – I purchased 2 deals for Shampoo Avenue B through the livingsocial website. I went for cut and color and scheduled a keratin treatment with Jenni, and without dishing all the dirt, did not have a good experience either time...at all.
Fortunately, I later on spoke to one of the managers (Naomi) who was extremely apologetic and helpful, and scheduled an appt for me with Karuna (one of the owners). I was very happy with my visit and would recommend Karuna (and her assistant, Anthony) without hesitation. From what I could tell, the other stylists are really great as well.
I would usually not go back to a place where I had a bad first experience, but the level of customer service displayed by the owners and mgmt was so impressive, that it was well worth it.
Also...the keratin (brazilian) treatment that they do does NOT require you to go 3 days without washing ur hair or working out...they wash it and blowdry right there in the salon. Also, if they are running a few minutes behind schedule, you can go to the cafe next door and have a complimentary coffee or tea!
The Best in NYC – I love Shampoo Avenue B. The place has a low-key, rock n roll vibe without pretense or high expense. If you want a great hair cut and/or color, go to Amelia. She is super-skilled and does it all well: from a basic trim to far out color and style. The other staff are also super talented. Check it out.
Fashion, art, and fun! – I always have fun when I come here, I usually get offered and alcoholic beverage and get to listen to awesome music while admiring great art on the walls. On top of all that I walk out of the salon with amazing hair.
I highly recommend seeing Janaan!
