Excellent Food, Service and Atmosphere – Brought a friend to Blend who was in from Puerto Rico. He was thorougly impressed by the Ropa Vieja as was I with the empanadas. This was my second time there. The first was around the time they opened and I figured the service was stellar because they were trying to gain a customer base. However, the service is still excellent. Our waiter was professional and very polite. The busboy was extremely sweet and patient. Did not try to rush plates off the table. The manager sincerely thanked us for coming in.
In an error of "hurry up and flip tables" restaurants, Blend stands alone in their high quality food and service. The atmosphere is calm and romantic yet fun for those out with friends. Definitely a great vibe.
Great spot for a date – Yesterday, I took my girlfriend to blend. She had been craving Latin American food but didn't want to go to your typical hole in the wall. I looked up Latin American restaurants in NY online and found this place. It certainly didn't look like a greasy joint, so I decided to try it.
Well, my girlfriend loved it. It is a classy place with delicious food. The art on the wall definitely adds to the experience. The empanadas were delicious. Their rice and black beans are to die for. I had the churrasco (grilled skirt steak) and she had the bistec encebollado (steak with grilled onions. Both were great.
I highly recommend Blend.
Great Gourmet Latin food with Trendy Ambiance – My family and I recently went to blend two weeks ago. I heard about it from my cousin. I had the ropa vieja, which was outstanding. It was served on mashed sweet plantains. As a Puerto Rican, I've had plenty of plantain in my day, but not like this. It was delicious. My inlaws had bistec a la palomilla. I tried that as well. It is a succulent sauteed steak with a garlic, onion, tomato fricassee. Also very good. I will get that next time. If you want gourmet Latin American food in a trendy atmosphere at an affordable price, try Blend.
