Landscape our home – We saw the new Garden Center on Lincoln Ave so we stopped in for some BBQ I think they were having an open house. We spoke with Jonathon and he set us up with an appointment to meet with a designer the following week. Our designer gave us many options to choose from and alot of great ideas. We signed up for their services witch included a water feature and pond. We also had the back yard redone including a new patio. The entire job went very well and within about 2 weeks they were done. Well done gents. We will use them again for sure.
National Review – Was very surprised to see a well placed Garden Shoppe in this small midwest town. They say that location is everything. I think they found it here in Charleston.
After a little investigation we found that the two owners are very well trained and educated gentelmen. The president of the company had a large tree service company in the Chicago area for many years that was sold in 2001 to a larger tree service . The VP of the company is a EIU grad with an extensive background in turf sciences.
We spoke to the garden store manager whom is from Ohio, she told us that their customer base was mainly local blue collar workers and surrounding area master gardeners. The bulk of their revenue comes from very creative landscape designs. We had a chance to review some of their work which was nicley done and a bit out of the ordinary for the midwest but very impressive.
The Gardnen store seems well stocked with plants, trees and flowers. The layout of the property is a bit congested and parking is scarce due to the other tenets leasing areas of the building but all of this seems to add a bit of charm to this quiet little town .
disappoimted – Took $3000 cash to find the leak in my existing pond.
After removing my flagstone area that I had asked them to leave (their idea superceded my wishes), setting the skimmer box WAY too high, leaving a mess, AND asking if they could "have" the flagstone they uprooted, they told us to call if there was still a leak.
Which I did 2 days later and for the next 2 years. The owner who made the promises and was my contact was always either on vacation (what kind of landscaper takes vacation in the middle of landscaping season??) or not available and would call me back. I never received a return call and my pond is worthless.
I should have known better when it took 3 weeks initially to get them to answer their phone in April....yes, they were on vacation
