Dinner in Paradise - worth the boat ride! – We had been to the New Orleans & Orlando locations but hadn't tried the Glendale one.
The hostess took us right away upstairs & she brought us to a table near a large, loud, birthday group. We asked for empty boat table downstairs instead because it was very noisey up there. My kids were excited about sitting in the boat. The lighting was very dim so we had a little trouble reading our menus.
Our waitress showed up & wanted our drink order.
She didn't introduce herself - I prefer that they do. I think her name was Angela? She was very nice but not very outgoing. She helped me pick a "Big Rita".
She returned with our drinks and we were ready to order. "She didn't right anything down" - I hate that. It makes you feel like they are not paying attention. She did at least ask questions about what we had asked for.
The kids were enjoying all the sites seated in the boat so my husband & I were doing the activities on their menus. A very friendly staff member "Diana" came with our food. She teased us about how parents enjoy the kids menus. A 2nd young man was with her with the rest of our food. He asked my husband to check if his sirloin was cooked to his liking & it was. Our server got it all right. I had the coconut shrimp -it was excellent! The Big Rita was good but not very strong. Our kids had pasta, sliders and chicken fingers - all good. She got a clean souvenier cup & wrapped it up after she brought us some "to go" boxes. We spent about $85 for dinner.
I dropped another $70 in the gift shop! Diana was working in there. She was very friendly and helpful.
So overall it was nice!
A hangout for criminals - beware. – I feel a need to warn other potential victims about our experience when we visited Margaritaville (Glendale) for the first time this past weekend. While I fully understand that the restaurant cannot be held responsible for everything that happens there, the fact remains - we were victims of a crime while at this establishment. My wife's purse (with our camera) was stolen off the back of her chair.
To their credit, the outside security company stopped a man attempting to leave the premises with her purse. I do not know how this happened, and I am grateful. But the camera was taken. The items in the purse (credit cards, etc) could have easily been replaced, but the photos on the camera are gone forever. I am still investigating the matter and am hoping for Margaritaville's cooperation and support.
Again, I do not hold Margaritaville responsible for the actions of one or more of their patrons. But I do feel that everyone should know the kind of environment that exists there and at WestGate. I am not naive to the times we live in. However, I think a restaurant should be VERY concerned, especially in this current economy, that their customers cannot feel safe.
