This Roto Rooter ripped off my 83 year old mother.

Their tech showed up at 9:00 am. He needed to snake/scope the lines but could not immediately locate the clean-out in our backyard. He claimed he did not have the time to go pull the city map and locate it so he would have to scope/snake from the roof-top vent. To do this, he would need an extra "spool" that he had to return to the shop to retrieve. For that, my mom was charged $210!!!!! What serviceman ever charges to return to the shop for the proper tools he needs in order to finish the job for which he was hired?! Furthermore, it was his CHOICE to go get the spool for which he, curiously, had the time. At 3:30 that afternoon, he proclaimed the job "finished" and the lines to be free of roots. (Ha! We had to hire another plumber who came out and within 30 minutes was able to scope the lines - and what do you know! - there were roots!)

The bottom line is this: We were charged a total of $538 for nothing. Again, $210 of that was because their service tech was too lazy to do his job correctly. Oh and corporate would not help. Their claim was that each Roto Rooter is an independent franchise and the relationship is that of franchisor/franchisee; they do not get involved in disputes. Check out their Facebook page, though, and watch them accept any praise offered.
