Excellent Tattoo by Errol #2 – It looks like at least some people have had a bad experience with Blue Flame. That's unfortunate, because my experience exceeded my expectations. I chose an artist at Blue Flame based on his online gallery. I found out that he was no longer there, but someone else could work with me. After viewing Errol #2's (yes, two Errols at one tattoo shop!) work, I thought he could do the job. He forewarned me that the geometric pattern I wanted would be difficult because it was mainly circular and that they would have to increase the size so it didn't bleed together over time. The time it took to do the tattoo was actually less than they quoted, and Errol #2's work was great. I had very high expectations coming in for my first tattoo, and I was concerned that no one--no matter how talented--would deliver. Errol #2 exceeded my expectations by delivering the image I wanted and then freehanding a portion of the tattoo with a better component than I had originally selected. I can't speak for every experience at Blue Flame, but mine was great, and I would definitely return.
SO HAPPY, for me and GREG CASEY, RIP. – I got one tattoo and a new nose stud at Blue Flame. I'm treated like family, and was given excellent follow-care information. I have since referred many friends to Blue Flame, not ONE of which was less than 100% satisfied. Did I mention the prices are quite reasonable as well? I LOVE BLUE FLAME AND ERROL, the owner! Don't forget t check out the restrooms while you're there! :)
AND ON TOP OF THAT, my 40 yr old buddy Greg, who has since passed away from cystic fibrosis, got a tat from Errol. Greg can't share the details, but as I was there, I WILL.
I worked out the details so Errol would understand that Greg's coughing fits could really mess him up, but Errol was patient, understanding and kept Greg totally at ease although lying back gave Greg panic attacks. They BOTH did well, and THIS was BEFORE I got my own tattoo.
Greg got the tattoo he wanted that was on his bucket list. He was so proud of it. I might have to find a way to post a pic. I have the utmost respect for Errol.
Buyer BEWARE! – These people are PIGS, UNCLEAN, Not SAFE!!
Wouldn't go back – I went to blue flame one day with a friend really excited to get my nostril pierced. We were greeted and helped right away. Duncan took care of my piercing and seemed very knowledgeable and professional but his hands were shaky. The piercing barely hurt and I was very pleased. Then two weeks later I started to form the dreaded nose piercing bump. I read online that its very common in some people and found out ways to take care of it. When the bump wouldn't go away I called back blue flame and talked to Ashley who gave me another alternative to cleaning the piercing but it still never went away. I was pierced in July and it is now the end of November and it finally going away but not because of Blue Flame. I actually ended up going to Oak City Tattoo where I found Jason who looked at my piercing and found out that it actually hadn't been done correctly which was why i had these bumps (yes one was on the inside that i never even knew about!). Don't get your nostril pierced at Blue Flame, another girl I know had hers done there and actually had to take it out because her bump wouldn't go away either.
Christy is awesome! – I have gotten all of my tattoos that I have had done in NC with Christy and sent several friends to her to be tattooed. Never had a bad experience or a tattoo I wasn't in love with! Christy is a great artist, and I will be going back to see her several more times.
Don't do it – I was really excited to get my first tattoo with Shaun. He met with me and was made me feel comfortable. He seemed very professional with a great sense of humor. YAY! When I went in for my actual appointment, I was told Shaun was not there and someone else would be doing the work. No other explanation. Apparently it is ok to just have anyone do work on you. Work you will have forever. To be fair I looked at the book of the replacement artist and it seems he had only done about 8 tattoos ever. He hadn't even drawn anything up for what I wanted done. I guess he was just gonna freestyle on my arm. When I asked where Shaun was, I was told he broke his hand. Wow. I guess the phone is broken at Blue Flame, since they couldn't even call and tell me.
One star for Shaun. Hope your hand gets better soon.
Experienced, Professional, Personal – I wanted a new tattoo and I knew just the place to go...Blue Flame! I have been going to B.F. for about 10 years now and I have NEVER had a bad experience. I would feel comfortable having work done by any of the exceptional guys and gals @ B.F. (tattoo artists and piercers) because I know they are experienced, talented and sanitary.
I walked in and was greeted enthusiastically by TJ which immediately made me feel welcome. He was personal and took the time to listen to what I wanted to have done. He set me up with an appointment.
Shaun did an amazing job on my tattoo and was patient, professional and polite. He went above and beyond to make sure I loved my new piece of art. (It was just what I had imagined!) Shaun answered all the questions I had and let me know that I could call him back if I thought of any more questions!
I walked out the door satisfied and excited to show off my new tattoo! I love Blue Flame and have referred many, many people to them and will continue to refer many, many people to them!
YUCK! Avoid Blue Flame!!!!!!! – I could not agree more with reiddixon, I was shown the same disrespect by these people and never wanted to slap someone so bad in my life. The last time I checked if you're running a business, you shouldn't try to PUSH the customers away. I went there for a tattoo and apparently since it wasn't a full sleeve, and I'm a blonde female, I just wasn't worth it to them. They actually rolled their eyes at me when I showed them the photo I wanted. As soon as I saw that I promptly removed the photo from their dirty hands and walked out. If I could give this stupid place NEGATIVE stars I would. I should thank them though, I ended up going to Warlock's off Western blvd and it was a fantastic experience! Save yourself this stupid step, and just go right to Warlock's!!!!!
awful experience – i'm not your typical tattoo recipient (if there is such a thing); at blue flame, i experienced a level of "reverse snobbery" that i hadn't dealt with since high school. the artist suggested that i "buy a necklace" of the design i wanted rather than getting a tattoo. he was rude, condescending, and frankly seemed to be on some kind of a power trip because he had something that a well-dressed country club mother needed. the guy at reception was fairly helpful, which is where the one star came from. clearly, this is a case of the town-outcast getting back at all the people who teased him growing up. ended up going to lacie at phoenix, and had a wonderful experience there. she was excited for me, and was just as professional as she could be. run, don't walk, to phoenix tattoo. no dorky rejects in dude jean shorts there, i can promise!!
Came from Baltimore, MD – I was in Raleigh, NC from Baltimore, MD and wanted a tattoo of something I had. I stopped in to Blue Flame and showed them what I wanted. They made a copy of it and I made an appointment for the next day which was last Saturday. The first encounter with Blue Flame was excellent; very pleasant and personable clientele. I was told that Brandon would be doing my tattoo on Saturday. I returned on Saturday and experienced the very same excellent customer service as I did the day before. When Brandon was ready to do my tattoo, I was again treated with the greatest respect. In addition to the original tattoo I wanted, I asked if I could add a few more things to it and Brandon was extremely accommodating and did an absolutely excellent job. I will return from Baltimore to Blue Flame Tattoo to get another tattoo.
Keep up the great customer service!
