NOT RECOMMENDED - I have been to Lucky 13 many times mostly with large groups that I host. However, after our experience last night, not only will I not visit this restaurant/bar again, I will make sure everyone I know hears my experience. I invited my entire team for dinner before a Bees baseball game. We had no problem getting a table for 12 by arriving a few minutes early as they don’t accept reservations. It all started with our server, Brittany; a nice enough girl, but not cut out for the service industry. Ordering fried pickles and onion rings for appetizers took 30 minutes. Our hamburgers took an almost additional 45 minutes (putting our orders in before everyone arrived/was allow in too)! You would think by arriving at Lucky 13 by 5:30, one could make a 7:00 start at the game which is a ½ block away. Oh no, not if you go to Lucky 13. The worst part of the experience was the extreme nature of the door staff. When I arrived with two of my team members, none were asked for identification. Two other team members arrived; one was asked the other walked right in. The remaining team members were all asked to show ID...because as they quoted, “It’s the law.” Totally get when a restaurant/bar requests this. However, we had two special guests joining us from the UK who were turned away because they didn’t have their passports. They returned to the hotel and upon returning, had another unpleasant experience. The illiterate door dude scoured their passports unable to find what he needed and proceeded to write down their information in a notebook. Really? Talk about a good welcome to their first restaurant experience in the US. So if you are from Utah, you are OK because the illiterate door people can simply scan the license for the state database. If you don’t, be prepared to be demeaned and embarrassed especially if you are using a passport. And maybe the staff should read Utah Code Title 32B and show where it says everyone MUST be ID’ d...unbelievable. Regarding the ridiculous amount of time it took to get our food, they blamed it on the pregame crowd. Last time I had a group of 14…in and out in 30 minutes. With service like this, 13 won’t be too lucky for the future of the restaurant. Oh, and remember to ask for your burger to be cooked…unless you like receiving it raw.
I am not a big burger person however after eating here I just want more and more. The burgers here are the best around and they are huge. If you can decide on one you can defnitely share with your date or a friend. The garlic fries are so good, you wont even care you have garlic breather for hours after, ha.
Tried this place for the 1st time and I am in love! such a fun atmosphere and the burgers are delicious. I had the bacon and blue cheese burger which the cheese was melted, something I have not experiences with blue cheese and so good. And the garlic rosemary fries, they were to die for. I wan to go back and i was just there 2 days ago. So good! Very big portions and great selection of burgers. Yum!
I normally don't do this, but we had absolutely terrible service.
My husband and I tried Lucky 13 on 06/16/2012 for the very first time. When we first walked in, the doorman just stared at us, not welcoming us, not asking us for our ID's, anything. We hand him our ID's, and since we haven't been there before, weren't familiar with seating and whatnot.
When we sat down, we were greeted by the waitress, Amy, and asked if we wanted some drinks and a menu. We ordered drinks, and she gave us a menu. She came back after about 10 minutes, and we placed our order. It would have been great service if she would have given us at least the courtesy to let us know that the food would take at the minimum 30 minutes. If the expectation was set, we wouldn't be as upset as we are. Amy wasn't attentive to our table at all. She seemed to take care of her outside tables fairly well, but only came to check on our food when I was able to flag her down. It took close to an hour before we even got our food. And to set the bar here, 2 sets of customers that sat down 20-30 minutes after us got their food within 5-10 minutes of when we received ours.
I couldn't say whether or not the food is even worth coming back for. The service there is extremely unsatisfactory. I would hope that they would train their employees to set the bar, and to be attentive to ALL of their customers, and to at least try to make things right instead of making excuses. We are ones that tip even if the service isn't that great, but tonight, the waitress, the doorman, and the guy that served our food, ruined our dining experience.
Great food Great WINE?! & Great staff – I stopped in to this place because we heard it changed ownership and they had done some new things. It was fantastic!
First, I love wine, and they are one of the few bars that carry a decent red wine (Fess Parker Frontier Red) Everyone who works there will make you feel like family, down to Cesar in the kitchen.
Also, you can't miss any of the food on the menu, their house smoke bacon tastes like camping in the Tetons...
Killer Food – Exceptional BBQ fire roasted jalepeno poppers.
Garlic Burger Bonanza.
Brunch is amazing.
Best Food, Service and atmosphere of any bar in town.
