Since 2002 when I moved to to Salt Lake City UT, I have been to many auto mechanic shops to fix my car, and every time I wasn't very happy. One day I had a mechanical problems with my car and one of my friends recommended me to visit High-Tech Auto and find Eddie. I will never forget the courtesy from Eddie, he is a great and honest man. He takes care of his customers car as if it were his own. From my experiences with Auto repair shops, I'm not going to trust anybody, except Eddie. Hi-Tech Auto has the affordable prices in all of Salt Lake. I truly think this is the best!

NEVER COME TO THIS REPAIR SHOP FOR ANYTHING!!! This mechanic, Eddie, is one of the most corrupt, conniving, mechanics you'll come across in SLC, I suggest ANYWHERE else but this place, so here's my story. After hearing really good things about how "honest" and "legitimate" this guy was, and watching the Ch. 2 news report on him (which is a complete scam by the way, he knew that the vehicle was a secret shopper before he diagnosed it, thus the "no repairs needed" evaluation he gave, otherwise he would have charged you over $1000 for useless repairs) I decided to get my car diagnosed.

So the first thing he claims he'll do the diagnostics for free, NOT TRUE, he ended up charging me over $100 just to tell me the fuel pump wasn't working, (you can test this in less than 5 minutes by removing the gas line from your engine and trying to start the car, if no fuel is coming out, dur, it's the fuel pump) This entire time I'm trying to get him to give me an estimate on what it will cost, which he would not give until he already started working on it, the total cost for a fuel pump, fuel filter, and the labor for those 2 parts was over $700!!

I called the autozone that he picked up the fuel pump from, it was only $90. He then tried to lie to me and say he had to take the entire gas tank out of my car to do the fuel pump, which would be extra labor. Come to find that he doesn't need to remove the gas tank, the fuel pump sits in the wagon of my car, easily accessible, this job took him LESS than 1 HOUR and he charged me over $400 for LABOR costs, not to mention the extra $300 he charged for the pump, which didn't even come with a warranty (I asked him and he said it did come with a warranty, 1 yr 12,000 mi). When I asked him how much HE paid for the pump, he got really defensive and said "I don't have to tell you that" he then got very angry started cussing me out for questioning him about the absurd price for a fuel pump replacement.

The day before he made me sign a paper that I only put the make, model, year, my name and address, and phone number on it, it had NO PRICE listed on the paper at all, this was before he even got to look at my car. He then claimed that I had already signed a paper agreeing to the price of $700 and that he had the right to keep my car if I didn't pay that price... This is by far one of the WORST mechanics in the SLC area, if you want to be overcharged hundreds of dollars for parts, and pay him over $300/hr in labor, then by all means go to this scammer, but if you want a decent price I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Salt Lake City's best auto body & paint shop – How do you find an honest auto repair shop in Salt Lake? I've been recommended to this body shop by friend of mine and decided to try Hi Tech auto. I was charmed with the results. I saved almost $800 on body and paint work over the estimate provided by another shop. Hi Tech quoted the job fairly, using aftermarket parts and parts from junk yards. They did much more work, for less money. I highly recommend these guys to anyone!
