We made last minute plans to go to the Cape for a party and found most of the hotels full due to school vacations. One of the available ones was HoJo so we booked it. We had just stayed in a HoJo in Florida so we figured, why not. The room was almost identical but the bathroom had been recently redone and was spotless. The only drawback is that there is no place to put your toiletries in the bathroom except on the back of the toilet. They should have put a shelf on the wall when remodeling. Good stay and good price, will definately stay again.
The Howard Johnson has one of the most beautiful views of Cape Cod's Nature. Our room faced a small inlet of Mill Creek. We awoke to several Blue Herons, Kingfishers, ducks and even an Osprey seeking their morning meals. The hotel had a good size hot tub that was very relaxing after a day of golf and/or shopping. The pool was small but adequate. The front desk person was friendly and accomodating. The location is great as it's close to restaurants, golf courses, beaches and shopping. I highly advise getting a room facing the Mill Creek as you'll be rewarded with some up-close views of Nature.
I posted about my experience regarding Wyndym's "best deal" policy, and how I almost was stuck with a room that I really didn't need, due to a change in plans.
As I mentioned, I did not have the best experience dealing with reservations, and posted what happened here. I left my review off with me stating that I emailed the property owner of the Howard Johnson Cape Cod in West Yarmouth, MA, and was waiting for a response. Fortunately that response did come...unfortunately I already left the review on here.
So the UPDATE to my situation:
David, the general manager of this facility called me personally, and I explained the situation, what I did, how I did not see the fine print of the reservation details, and how I was treated when I called to cancel the reservation. He then offered to remedy the situation, something much appreciated, and something he probably didn't have to do, but he did. Out of everyone I spoke with in the organization, he was the only person that took time to understand that I screwed up and made a mistake, and he was the only person willing to find a resolution to the situation. He was able to cancel my reservation (less a 20% fee, which was more than fair), and free me of my obligated stay with this Howard Johnson.
Needless to say, this act of professional kindness and customer support changes my opinion. I am not completely over how I was treated by the phone reservations, but at least I know now that if I am to book myself to one of the hotels within the Wyndym family, I will make sure my rate is one I can cancel if I need to.
Certainly though, in light of how David treated me and this situation, I would change my initial comment and consider staying at his hotel on the Cape, without question. I feel he went above what was expected, and for that I am appreciative.
I apologize to him and the Howard Johnson Hotel in Yarmouth for my previous posting, and see now that despite thinking the hotel and reservations are all the same, it really isn't. I hope that anyone reading the previous post will understand it was written in frustration to a situation that I caused myself, but not reading the fine print, and that the people who were rude to me on the phone, they are not affiliated with this hotel, and more than likely were responding to my attitude towards them.
David - if you read this, I want to publically thank you for taking care of the situation, and apologize for the previous posting. If I cannot delete the previous posting, I hope this updated posting will help.
Sparkling clean room. Our room had a beautiful water view. Very nice, attentive owners.
This is a motel style HJ which is perfectly adequate for a short stay. I think it represented good value for the area with and indoor adn outdoor pool and a tabel tennis table. the rooms were large and met our requirements. This is not a high end hotel but you are not paying high end prices. Our bedroom window overlooked a nice water area with plenty of wildlife. The free interent was a bonus although a littel slow at times and the staff were very helpful. It is nice and close to beaches, hyannis centre, numerous crazy golfs and cape cod mall.
The people who ran the hotel were great made you feel at home right away i really enjoy my stay and the price was great..
First and formost, the staff at this hotel is absolutely wonderful. They are helpful, thoughtful and caring people. They accomadate you to the best of their ability and make sure that you are completely comfortable. The rooms are clean and properly kept up. I was there with 10 people and each one of us received excellent service. This hotel is minutes away from the beach, waterfront with the boats that take you to and from Marths Vineyard, and there are many fun filled attractions within walking distance. As well as restaurants and bars. Great location for a great hotel.
Thanks for the newspapers - Thanks for the "Honey Buns" Your children are adorable + very friendly and helpful. Thank you for an enjoyable visit and stay.

Stayed here for a conference on the Cape. Inexpensive (for a reason!) but all in all, it was a good hotel. Excellent service.
