Do not move here. You will be lured by the pool - and the idea that living at Marquis Vista is " like a vacation"-
Most vacations do not have their neighbors throwing beer bottles into the courtyard (on multiple occasions) or the pool never being open until later in the day. If you are unhappy on most vacations, resort staff will do their best to make amends. Not here!
Consistently the pool is open later than they say - and often is closed due to people breaking glass in the pool. Fourth of July was a bust at our 'vacation' paradise due to broken glass in the pool.
The courtesy officer is non-existent so safety is a huge concern here. And, staff have now decided to take Sundays off- so there is no one that will respond to you if there is a problem/ emergency. (oh, unless you pretend your apartments is flooding- then they will call).
I spotted an intruder trying to break into the building once. The Atlanta police got here 35 minutes earlier than the time it took for the onsite security officer to call me back! I'm sure Atlanta police have more on their plate than being used as the de-facto security for this building.
Promises of new fitness classes, extended pool hours, and ability to use the 'green space' by the pool is all a hoax. If anything, it only disappoints. Instead of extended hours, we end up with less pool hours, and guest parking spaces sold to some other business - leaving our guests with nowhere to park. Let's not even mention the neighbors who don't pick up their dog poop. There has been dog poop in my hallway (in the inside hallway!!) for going on 5 days now!
And let's be honest. We all live here (next to the sad but true horror that is Pine Street) for the pool (which never opens on time or doesn't open at all). We certainly do not live here for the helpful management or the weed smoking- gun toting- glass breaking neighbors who are so inconsiderate as not to clean up their dog's poop in all public areas.
If this is a vacation- it's a vacation in hell.
The Life of My lease – 03/14/12
So I know this is a little preemptive to post a rating for something that hasn't happen yet, but we are about to move in on Saturday. We are renting a one bedroom with what I would call some pretty decent views. So far everything has been really good and have had no issues with the staff or with the property the 4 times we came to look at the apartment, before we finally decided to live here.
I will say I do like the property manager Will a lot and think that he is very friendly and helpful. I don't really care for the woman in the leasing office too much because I think she is a little rude, and there is one person that is hard to understand on the phone but so far I like it.
For the record, I am not someone who works for Marquis Vista, nor do I ever hope to be. I'm just a soon to be current resident. I see a lot of negative things posted about the property and in my experience so far I haven't heard or seen anything bad. I do rely heavily on ratings when I sign up for anything where I'm stuck in a contract with it so I think something like this is invaluable to read. I promise to keep you updated every step of the way with my lease. I like to hear things straight from people and I promise to do that for you. So until I get settled and start living here I will give them 4 stars. Enjoy and wish me luck!!!
So it's time for my next review. I have changed my approval rating of the complex. It has now been almost two months since we moved in. I have to start by saying I love the inside of my apartment. When I'm inside the four walls of my place I can escape everyone else. There have been a few minor things about my complex that I think management should address.
1. The parking. Because of the lack of visitor parking and the fact that visitor parking is always full, the parking situation has become a mess. Frankly they could do a few things different. Now resident's guest are supposed to park on your level behind the gate. Sounds great right? Well the way that a guest gets up to your level and past the gate is to use the call box and can be buzzed up. To do this people have to get out of their car and walk to the box. This creates a traffic jam, and forces another resident to have to let them in. I don't like doing this because I don't know that person, and if I'm going to let anyone behind the gate, what's the point of it? Also on nights that the Atlanta Civic Center has an event people unrelated to the complex park in our deck leaving no spaces for residents.
Management should move the gate up one floor so that there is more visitor parking outside the gate. They should also instal an arm so that only one car can pass through at a time, preventing people from tailgating.
2. Trash. There is a no box policy down the shoot. So therefore residents will leave boxes outside the shoot. This is against policy, but I think is okay. What I have a problem with is my nasty neighbors who are too lazy to put their other trash down the shoot.
3. there is an apartment on the fourth floor, in which I live, that is very noisy. I don't think that the individuals that live inside get along because they are constantly screaming at one another. This usually takes place around the first because I have personally witnessed, a woman screaming and clapping her hands at a young man saying, "Give me my money! Give me my MONEY!" I can understand this, however every month is kinda ridiculous. But girl if I were in your situation, I'd be screaming too!
I live on Piedmont Ave side and so far has been pretty good, other than those listed above. The parking is the biggest thing for me.
It's really a great location!! – I was scheduled to move in last week at 5:00pm and caught a flat tire on 75, this delayed me for about an hour, not to mention rush hour traffic, When I called to say that I would be running late to my surprised the young lady that answered the phone stated that they were having an event that night and that it would not be a problem to accommodate my late arrival.
Now that's Customer Service 101:-).. Kudos to you and your team, I have never experienced service like that..EVER!! I even met a young couple in the elevator who stated that they just renewed and were happy campers... So it looks like I just found my new Home!!
I Actually Love It Here! – I've lived here since April of 2010 and just renewed my lease for another year. I have lived at several apartment communities in Atlanta during the past years and this is one of my favorites. The location is great and the amenities are wonderful!! I enjoy working out with my on-site trainer in the gym and drinking my daily cup of morning coffee from the Internet Cafe. The pool is also a beautiful place to relax. My unit is so comfortable and my vistitors can't believe it's not a purchased condo. They're always like, "Wow! This is a rental building? It's so nice!"
I'm writing this review because I noticed the other 2 poor ones. Often when i go to purchase an item or check out a hotel, etc... I always like to read reviews. It's unfortunate that out of the hundreds of happy residents, none ever feel a need to take time out of there busy days to write a review. It's only the few people who are pissed off that take to the computer. I can't agree with the other reviewers except for maybe the parking garage cleanliness. That being said, I gave Marquis Vista 4 stars because the ONLY thing that needs improvement is the cleanliness of the parking garage, but then again it is an outdoor parking garage! I doubt management could ask all residents to remove their vehicles for a street sweeper to come through! Lol! Some crime has happenned here but not nearly as much as other places I have lived in Buckhead and Brookwood areas. It"s a major city people, leave your car clean and free of valuables!!! My car has never been broken into. The new management here is very nice and caring and all live on site....They do lots of different and fun socials at least every other week to encourage socializing and getting to know your neighbors. Come check it out, you"ll love it here as much as I do!
IT'S A TRAP! DON'T MOVE HERE!!! – I was an original renter here when the whole complex had just opened for business back in June 2010. I moved into a brand new top floor apartment, which I've been receiving a concession rate on of $999/mo (market value is a ripoff of $1200) for an 875 sq foot 1bed/1bath apartment.
Since I've lived here, minimal efforts have been made by the management to increase the level of security here. Let me list off everything that I know has been stolen from here. Keep in mind that nobody was ever caught for any of these crimes. First, our amenities have been stolen and the management has not replaced. This includes the Mac computer in the business room attached to the lounge was stolen, never replaced. The TV's in the clubhouse on the roof top were stolen after someone THREW A BRICK THROUGH THE GLASS. I'm surprised that the Starbucks machine in the lounge (that never gets refilled) and random gym equipment hasn't gotten jacked yet.
The parking garage here is the WORST of it's kind. Remember, this is less than a year old, and is already FULL of dirt, dust, random trash and leftover construction materials that never got hauled away that people run over with their cars (seen it happen). There are also a handful of vehicles that have been abandoned and left to rot after mechanical failures. Management has been notified and doesn't care.
The security in the parking garage is laughable. They claim to have cameras to catch thieves, but we get crime notices almost weekly now. It's extremely easy for any outsider to follow anyone in through the gate and have access to smash and grab from any car they please. The gate has NO mechanical arms that you see at other complexes to prevent being followed in by another car, which happens ALL day, EVERY DAY. Again, management does not care, and said in security meetings that it's "too expensive" to have arms installed. Give me a break. On three separate occasions I've driven down and seen multiple cars up on blocks with their rims stolen, and cars with smashed glass that have clearly been burglarized. People follow residents through the gate, SPEED like CRAZY through the garage and BLAST rap music at all hours. Management does not enforce rules against this, ever.
Marquis Vista also has regular apartment break-ins and thefts. I have a stack of crime notices that management has put in my door to notify me of these over the past year. There are some major contributing factors to why Marquis Vista is such an unsafe place to live. The biggest of which is the fact that the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter is less than two blocks away, and there are constantly homeless people wandering in through the always open gates and scoping out their next theft. This shelter was supposed to have it's 600+ male residents evicted and moved into transitional programs, but the Atlanta Task Force for the homeless (and the delusional couple that runs it) has been digging their feet into the ground despite owing MILLIONS of dollars in past due utility bills for the building. The shelter does nothing but facilitate criminals, drug addicts, and loiterers that come into the neighborhoods on a daily basis and make the surrounding community an eyesore to Atlanta.
Don't let the pool and rooftop clubhouse fool you. If there's something at Marquis Vista that you like, trust me, it will be stolen before you move out. The water in the pool will probably be stolen before this summer is over. Screw this place, I'm buying a house!
DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – I moved here from the day they opened. They didn't have the apartment I wanted ready, so they offered to let me move to another apartment till mine was ready with NO COMPENSATION!
Next, they have Electronic locks that never work. I was locked out of my apartment for 3 hours because it was a sunday and there is "NO MAINTENANCE THAT LIVES ON SITE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I had to call the maintenance line and "LEAVE A MESSAGE". I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK! eventually I had to go sit in the Leasing office while they tried to call the company that made the locks who told them they couldn't come out for 2 days. Eventually after a couple hours the Maintenance man came and had to Totally destroy the door jam and pry the whole door open with a crowbar. Making it impossible to even leave the home because there was no way to lock the door. It was like this for "2 Days"!!!!!!! eventually everything was fixed..... This happen TWICE! Not once!.
I put in a maintenance request because: one of my doors to my laundry room won't open, and I guess they forgot about it, because IT HASN"T BEEN FIXED and it's been OVER a Month.
This property is EXTREMELY NICE and I love my apartment and the High Ceilings! But management is HORRIBLE! Since we have been here 7 months, the Leasing office has been a revolving door, and Many of the residents have just moved out breaking there leases just to get away.
My final complaint is that one night around 11:00 the Fire Alarm goes off. It wasn't solved until 3:00am. I literally had to go and unplug my fire alarm in my apartment just to get to sleep even tho I could still hear it in the hall.......... This place needs to do a complete 180 when it comes to running this place.
If you're looking for service, this is not the place for you. There is only "1" Maintenance Person...... And he DOES NOT live on site!!!!!!!!!!!! So if you have a emergency. You have to call the Apartment office and leave a message under "Emergency Maintenance" This sends the Maintenance Man a text message and he comes whenever he can........ (Keep in mind.... He doesn't live on site)
