I came here with my two well behaved kids and they were treated very well despite this not being a "kid-friendly" place. I found the service to be fine and the food was great..

Excellent Food – Seated us right away without any delay. Place looked ambiently nice but the folks sitting at the bar 5 feet away probably tarnished that atmosphere for my gf (I was facing the wall, away from them). Menu is entirely in Italian with only a few recogizable words here and there. Decided to stay away from the pizza even though it was the most understandable menu item. The waiter was very friendly and helpful in translating the menu. But since I couldn't expect him to sit next to us and read it line by line, we managed to get a splatter of translations and had to choose our main course based on what we had asked to be translated, not necessarily what we would've ordered if everything was in English. Food came very timely and was delicious. For appetizer we had the chicken liver patte which was tolerable. I guess coming from a Russian family we had different expectations. It was served in this tiny, odd shaped dish that made getting it that much tougher. For main course I had the quail which was the special of the day and my gf had the half chicken under the brick. Both were very presentable and tasted exquisite. Excellent wine selection (they'll offer a tasting if you are unsure) although their martinis were a bit lacking. Fair prices and over all a great anniversary dinner. Highly recommended, tho bring a dictionary (or research the menu before hand).
Down to earth vibe, yummy food – I've come here quite a few times, and it's always been top notch. There's a huge wine selection (most of which, I cannot pronounce).
I know this may seem trivial, but the complimentary bread is seriously to die for. Pizza is amazing too. It's not that overly sauced, overly cheesy American crap---this is the real deal!
Citysearch Editorial Review – New York has had its share of Roman restaurants, but a Roman grocery? This Nolita enoteca aims to capture the everyday feeling of “La Citta Eterna,” and not just its Fellini-esque nightlife. In a setting of weathered wood and distressed white tile meant to evoke the 1920s, Emporio serves up Roman specialties like rabbit braised in white wine, fava beans with mint and pecorino, and (of course) the city's signature pasta: tonarelli cacio e pepe (pecorino and black pepper). There's also the inevitable wood-oven pizza, but that's not the main focus. The grocery, by the way, isn't just for show: it sells real Roman provisions.
