We had an urgent meeting with about twenty International clients who had arrived in town ahead of schedule. My original plan was to take them to Garson restaurant, where they have variety of Middle Eastern dishes that will satisfy my guests, but due to their unexpected early arrivals, I had to provide the meal in the company. I called Garson and I explained the urgent situation and asked them if it is possible to the full catering in office that day. They agreed and provided me the best experience I was not expecting. They provided me two servers , dishes, chaffing dishes ,drinks and all. Food was served warm, and the servers were very nice and professional. Thank you Garson
It was my son in law's 25th birthday last weekend, and we decided to go to Garson restaurant and see for ourselves if they are up to the par for what other reviews have said. We were told at the time of making reservation that they have belly dancer performing on Friday nights at 8:30 and live band on Sat night. We decided to go on Sat night. Our group were 12 people, when when we arrived, there was no wait, and we were directed to our table immediately. The ambiance, and our table location looked very nice. There were two other parties at the restaurant as well on opposite side of us. Since it was our first visit to the restaurant, the server suggested the family patter of appetizers and entrees, so we could try all the most authentic Persian appetizers and entrees. It was breath taking. very nicely done. It started with fresh herb, cheese, radishes served with fresh baked bread in the clay oven made in front of us.The appetizers included "Hummos, warm eggplant,, and Olivieh (creamy chicken salad), and yogurt with cucumber". The entree platter was included of "Sultani(one ground beef kabob and one skewer of stripped rib eye) Garson special(one skewer of boneless chicken and one skewer of chunks of tender rib eye(chengeh), fish kabob , and lamb shish kabobs". All were accompanied with grilled tomatoes, onions and peppers, and served with platter of two kinds of rice(while and dill) with side order of Zereshk (barberry) and sour cranberry mixed in with almonds and pistachios. It was beautifully done, for deserts we have Persian ice cream (vanilla mixed with saffron, pistachios), cheese cake, and tiramasu. I did not try try the infamous Persian tea, but I heard it was very good. The live music made us go to the dance floor and dance most of the night. The solo singer was a Persian performer from London. We had the great experience, and we definitely will go back.
Terrific – Great food. Fine Persian Cuisine. I also followed the "Honest" persian. Food was great, and the live music was great. I will be coming back for more.
Terrific Restaurant in Houston – This place is fabulous. I was turned off by previous review, but I decided to follow Mr. “Honest” Persian and try it out myself. As I said it was a great and enjoyable experience for my family. No comparison between quality of food served here and other places mentioned in the “honest” review! I do not intent to knock any other restaurants down, but there is a big difference between other places mentioned and Garson! Quality of food and service is not comparable. Ambient is terrific and as I said before not comparable with fast Persian food being served by all others!
absolutely worse service – The service was horrible, Rude waitress, and food is not good.don’t waste your money there.
BTW…there is no live music.
Worst Persian food in Houston – By far the worst Persian restaurant to eat at and to enjoy your evening in Houston!!!!! We were the only other table in the restaurant on a Saturday night and our party consisted of 22 people. The food was cold! The waiter was brought from an old farm from Iran that was not accustomed to American dinning and service! Also there was this young waiter that was unbelievably rude. Management was even worst! Although there was this one lady that tried to help but still could not deliver! They do have live music EVERYOTHER Saturday. I honestly believe they hire those musicians to lure people in for the music just to make enough money to pay the bills; I mean why else would anyone want to pay $20-30 a plate for cold food and the worst service ever!!! You can read this review and think its fake but I personally ask you to take your family there and come back and leave a review based on your experience! I was a waiter for 3 years and I promise that I never treated people with such respect that Garson offered. Please do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time, money, and evening there because you will be back here doing the same thing I am doing the next day! Keep in mind that there are other Persian resturantes that are way cheaper and have excellent service such as Kasra, Hafez, or Darband (similar to garson but not as bad).
Food Fresh from the Microwave – My stew, which came highly recommended, tasted like prepackaged Dinty Moore, and had soggy shoestring fries sprinkled on top. The lamb shank was mostly fat, and also came in a watery Chef Boyardee sauce. Most of the menu seemed more Italian than Persian -- while I'm not at all familiar with Persian food, I frequently eat Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and this was nothing like either. The atmosphere and service felt very upscale, but this was a wasted effort given the quality of the food. The best part of the experience was the flatbread which comes free with every meal. Anything served in a sauce is not a high point for this restaurant -- I can't speak to whether the grilled/skewered meats are any better, but I will not be going back to find out.
Best Persian food in town! – This place just reopened. It has been a favorite of mine for many years. Looks like they did a total remodel. Very upscale and the food was even better than ever. The grilled meats and basmati rice are to die for! I usually eat so much of the homemade pita that I can't finish my food. The portions are large and the prices are very resonable. The service is friendly .
Flavorful, tasty, nice ambiance – Our party of four arrived at apx. 8 p.m. on a Satuday night for dinner. Reservations suggested, as this place was hopping! Service was wonderful. The bus boy did a great job of refilling water glasses, keeping the table clean, etc. The food choices are great. I love the vegetarian choices. There is live "Persian" music. The crowd was multi-generational family groups, which is so nice to see. Everybody was dressed in little summer dresses and looked pretty. Just a great overall evening.
Absolute nightmare serivce! People like this should go to prison!! – I had been going to Garson ever since they opend up in late 80's. The food and service used to be great. However since the unfortunate death of Mr. Yadi, the service and food have taken a nose dive. I had eateh there a few times and I would get sick after but recovered fully. However, my last experience was the worst ever in my entire life! I had a gift certificate without an expiration date and serial number on it. The management was not taking it and coming up with several lies. First, a very rude and impolite lady without any knowledge of customer service (possibly the acting manager) said the certificate was too old- I told her there was no expiration date. Then, she said they are going trough bankruptcy and the "judge" and "lawyers" have told them not to take the certificates, I reminded her that as long as they are operating under the same business name, then they are obligated to take it. Then, she said- a few months a go a manager had stolen a bunch of these certificates and my certificate could be one of them. I explained that I don't care about their internal problems and it was very rude for her to tell me the certificate was stolen specially when the certificates had no serial number and she wasn't able to determine which ones were stolen if any! Eventually, after repeating to them about their obligation they took the certificate however she didn't bother to apoligise or give me the chane or add additional items to my order since my purchase was less than the certificate value.
This lady has total lack of customer service, bad attitude, ugly demeanor. I will not recommend going to this place. I have already told my friends who like my self had been a long time cutomer of Garson.
