HORRIBLE! My name is Barbra Brown and I went to Darling Cafe on 2/25/14 with a gift from Groupon for a birthday breakfast. Its located in Philadelphia off Broad at 2cnd Street and seemed nice enough when entering, waitress was pleasant.
1st issue, ordered coffee for our party of 3, after drink almost to bottom noticed food particles stuck to sides and bottom of cup. Informed waitress (Alex), who apologized and since we were already contaminated, proceeded with breakfast order and new cup hoping for better service.
2cnd issue, when food came out to 8 year old daughter while eating she noticed something in pasta. It should have been plain with butte however mixed in the pasta was small pieces of raw salmon or tuna? EW! We called waitress again and although she apologized, said “ It’s not my fault”. DUH! at this point disgusted with cleanliness and service paid $49.00 with groupon and no apologies, left.
Not sure if this is how they treat all customers but they apparently need a visit from GORDON RAMSEY! Restaurant Nightmare. Darling Café is apparently the type of place that feels substandard treatment of its customers even a few is acceptable. If you have specific food requirements like cleanliness, veganism, food allergies, EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK nasty nasty, nasty! period
Nasty employees are a reflection of Sub-par Management. PITIFUL!
Trendy diner brings cheesecakes to Northern Liberties. – Trendy diner anchors the Piazza at Schmidt’s and brings Darling’s coveted cheesecakes to Northern Liberties. Question: What could be better than a thick slice of homemade Darling’s cheesecake and freshly brewed La Colombe coffee at 4 o’clock in the morning? Answer: A thick slice of homemade Darling’s cheesecake and La Colombe coffee at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. At this bright-orange, modern-retro diner, you can do both. Harry Arnold, who has wowed Philadelphians with his cake concoctions at his two smaller Philly cafes, is churning out ten of his famous cakes at a time, plus nouveau international entrees that he’s loosely based on his cafe menus, and serving them almost around the clock in this sunny spot on burgeoning North American Street. So who can you expect to see at the booth behind yours or propped up at the long counter ordering a sandwich or entrée and following it with locally-sourced dessert like homemade gelato or a chai latte cheesecake? Everyone who likes Harry’s cheesecakes. And that’s everybody.
