Citysearch Editorial Review – Relocating from their old Marina Del Rey spot to Venice just a block east of Abbot Kinney, this Westside favorite is bigger (and aiming to be better) than before. Contemporary Oaxacan paintings and pottery adorn the vividly colored walls inside, offset by white linens and sleek Murano lamps. A hibiscus-studded outdoor patio offers a shady awning and a bar where locals enjoy hanging out in the relaxed atmosphere. The menu balances traditional Southern Mexican specialties with upscale dishes. Lunch features lemon chicken tortilla soup, roasted garlic spinach quesadilla, tacos, burritos, carnitas, tostada salads and carne asada. Dinner expands the offerings, ranging from a New York steak adobado taco plate and Oaxacan chicken mole to grilled salmon with mole pipian, sauteed sand dabs with lime caper sauce, and Kahlua coffee flan.

Good Food need ambiance – Unlike the previous review, we went for dinner at 8pm on a Thursday and the place was 25% full. No problem walking in to a mostly empty restaurant. Parking was plentiful and the restaurant on Venice Blvd. just east of Abbot Kinney is an easy spot with it's huge sign. The dinner menu offered nice options, we had chicken enchiladas (overcooked but flavorful) and swordfish (very nice). The ceviche and garlic spinach quesadilla appetizers were good. The lighting and ambiance were bad. Service was alright, having had at least for different waiters serve us was a bit confusing. Had to ask for more cold chips. The entres run from $13 to 17 so reasonable for the quality of food we had. We may go back for the food, but the lighting may keep us away.

Excellent – This is a great place for regulars and a taste adventure for newbies.
