A Romantic night out.. – My fiance and I headed her on Friday for our annual Valentine's dinner. First of all, building is just an amazing piece of architecture, almost all of the building is original construction, it was just breathtaking. Our server was just fantastic- had an extensive knowledge of the wine pairings and very well versed in each cut of meat, from the origins to the preparation process, he also gave us a brief history of the structure. He gave us enough time to enjoy the meal, but was attentive enough to provide us anything that we needed, without having to wait for it.

The foie gras was delicious, the oyster flight was very fresh. the filet mignon while tender, it was a little underseasoned and not as flavorful as it could have been. My fiance had the rack of lamb and agreed with my assessment of the food, he stated that he preferred my lamb. All in all, a nice night at a very interesting restaurant.

Focus is on meat and seafood. – Adding to the city’s panoply of grand steakhouses, this meat and seafood-focused madame looks every bit the part in its spacious home--an opulent, classically styled former bank. This is not a place to take a first date, unless, of course, she happens to be descended from royalty. This is, instead, a place to take said princess’s father when you’re asking for her hand in marriage. In this era of business casual and pay-what-you-wish, it’s hard to imagine a dining destination robed in such palatial, multi-leveled elegance. But it’s the only fitting backdrop for such regal fare: fresh raw oysters shimmering on their shell, tender cooked-to-order slices of prime beef (presented a la carte, bien sur) and plump lobster tail that bows its head for dunking into thick pools of melted butter. If you’re tempted to bring a date, invite her for cocktails; the lush seating, towering and intricate ceilings and balconies that allow for unrivaled star gazing onto the locally rich-and-famous will impress her and you’ll save enough money to afford dinner when you bring her back here to propose.
