a must try – I tried this place with some friends tonight and we pretty much all loved it. I liked my NY cheesecake crepe which was a slice of cheesecake wrapped in a crepe with strawberry and I think a vanilla bean ice cream (I didn't pay attention on what ice cream came with it). For some reason when I read NY cheesecake crepe I thought it meant a deconstructed cheesecake but an actual slice is good as well. A friend of mine ordered some kind waffle and that was the winner of the night. I tried a little bit of it and totally fell in love. Now I know what I'll be ordering next time. The place itself is pretty nice. It's a good date place or just to hang out with friends.

Awful Experience! – I work downtown and had been wanting to try this place for a while. A couple of weeks ago, on a Friday morning, I had the chance. It was 10 minutes to 8:00 a.m. and since they open at 7:30 a.m. I thought perfect! When I arrived..."CLOSED" and there wasn't a hint of any movement. Alright, things happen, I'll try again when I have the chance. Last week, at almost 10:00 a.m. I had some time so I thought I'd try again...and "yes" it was open. Yay! I heard so much about their Belgian waffles that I ordered those. The guy behind the counter seemed hesitate and I asked "what's wrong?", he said "well, I don't know if the waffle iron is on yet and it will take a while if it isn't". I thought, that was weird, they open at 7:30 and it's almost 10:00. Doesn't anyone order waffles for breakfast? Well, as it turned out, it was warmed up so I lucked out. I also got a cup of coffee. As he was getting the coffee he reached for a paper cup even though there are stacks of nice ceramic coffee cups right behind him. I asked for the ceramic cup, of which he agreed to get, but with a commentary of how he thinks it's better in the paper cup. After paying, I went to put cream in my coffee but I couldn't find any. I asked him if there was any and he just kind of laughed and said "we are out and I guess I need to get some more". He said, "let me get you the whole milk". I poured it in my coffee and "wonderful...luke warm coffee now". So I did the trying to drink the coffee quickly before it get's cold, but not too quickly because I wanted it with my waffles. It didn't happen unfortunately. It got cold and then came my waffles. Oh well...I was hungry and hey it's waffles so still it's a treat! Then the topper...I poured the maple syrup on my waffles the "SYRUP" was literally "ice cold"!!!! Not cold...but ice cold. What's good about a warm waffle with cold syrup? So asked them to warm it up please and could I have a refill on my half cup of cold refills unless you pay a $1.00! It's not the dollar it's the whole experience. A place called "SYRUP" that specializes in waffles...NOT!!!! A waffle that tasted almost like an "Eggo" and ice cold syrup....Yum?

A glazed waffle to remember... – For a gal who was blown away by the make-your-own-Belgium-waffle station in my college cafeteria, Syrup Desserts, a casual cafe that specializes in dessert waffles, is a dream come true. With tempting offerings like caramel apple, the signature waffle with bananas, strawberries and vanilla ice cream, and blueberry lemon drop, the only conceivable drawback is deciding what to order. Don't get confused by all the fancy dessert grilled cheeses or specialty hot chocolates. While all delicious in their own right, the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow is the glazed waffle. The doughnut/waffle hybrid makes Syrup Desserts not just a place to grab a bite after a night at the Association, but a destination sweet spot.

Citysearch Editorial Review – The term "sugar rush" is an understatement at this two-story cafe that serves up super sweet spins on breakfast faves all day long. Think mini Belgian waffles in the blueberry lemon drop, raspberry tart and caramel apple pie variety, along with sweet grilled Muenster cheese sandwiches stuffed with blackberries and walnuts. For coffee-craving foodies, the java selection also doesn't disappoint. Hazelnut lattes, white chocolate mochas and frozen hot chocolates are paired with triple coconut waffles topped with sliced pineapples and coconut flakes. Guests who want a more intimate experience than the lower dining area topped with hanging blue lights, head upstairs to a comfy lounge for relaxing and indulging.
