Southern elegance replaces the trendy Globe in Tech Square. – Taking over a former hip restaurant is never easy, and WaterHaven certainly lacks the sex appeal that the Globe brought to Technology Square. The menu is another Southern-influenced farm-to-table situation, drab olive green is color of choice and we still can’t figure out what the hell the name is supposed to mean. Yet despite all odds, the place is pretty damn good. Apps are ordinary (fried green tomatoes, hummus) but well executed. Entrees stick to simplicity but add touches of surprise (Bacon-topped trout comes with mushroom lasagna). As a bonus, WaterHaven does a strong list of sandwiches and salads anchored by steak and fish for lunch. Service feels like the restaurant has been there for ages. Sometimes you don’t need a trendy name, cutting-edge concept or flashy design. Sometimes being good is good enough.
