Citysearch Editorial Review – Straddling the line between a taqueria and a formal dining experience, Chilango is a cross between Pancho Villa and Nopalito with tasty, creative Mexican dishes made from scratch for reasonable prices. Fair warning: Chilango is a Mexican restaurant that doesn't do burritos. The menu, instead, is packed with less-conventional fare, much of it inspired by Mexico City street food (see: the Pambazos, a sandwich covered in red pepper sauce, with chorizo and black beans). The layout is like that of most taquerias, though the clean and well lit dining area, hung with black and white photos of D.F. strives for more sophistication; call it a cross between Pancho Villa and Nopalito. It's a few candelabras short of upscale, but with a menu that includes filet mignon tacos, duck flautas and perhaps the city's best churros--and rave reviews from Mexico City natives--you won't miss the burritos a bit.
