Neighborhoods: Downtown, Meatpacking District
This is one of the few places in the trendy meatpacking district that most of us can afford. It has that down-home, small diner vibe. The fries and sliders taste that much better when you're sittin' at the bar.
The burgers and hot dogs at this trendy meatpacking joint are all pretty good, but look out for the Fat Cat, a specialty burger served nowhere else in time. With two small crisp patties of LaFrieda beef, two slices of cheese, caramalized onions, and butter on a crisp english muffin, it's really something special.
Best Burger! – I've eaten at a lot of burger places and I have to say the burger here is perfection. I'm a burger purist so I enjoy mine with just the meat and maybe a pickle and some ketchup. Without all the noise, Bill's burger is definitely the best out there. It is a good balance between great taste and a meaty beef patty. I admit there are other places with tastier and more tender beef but most often the patties there are too small for a real hungry man.
Rocked Out Burger Bar Great Deal in Meatpacking – Very little comes cheap in the Meatpacking District save for eye candy and lots of rejection, but Bills Bar is an anomaly. Bringing more dignity albeit less character to the joint than former occupant, Hog Pit, Bills Bar & Burger offers a rocked out no-frills burger bar, with juicy Pat LaFrieda (Shake Shack, Minetta Tavern) burgers like the mushroom & swiss for $7, crisp sweet potato fries, old-fashioned shakes ($6) and for the guilty feeling, salads.
B.R. Guests quicker filler upper-pre-clubbing or for nearby Googlers and Apple employees break spot-comes outfitted with gray velvety seats around the bar, an industrial gritty rocker bar scene in front and larger old tire shop-looking backroom with table seating. Checks come on tiny clipboards given by a young hipster-y staff, and are equally hip on your wallets: a juicy burger and shake comes out to just under $15. Creamy shakes are nostalgic, thick and tall (spiked, if you wish) topped with heavy unsweetened whipped cream. Luckily the crowd is equally aesthetic come nightfall. Good burger, Good price – There's been so much recent hype about Bill's Bar & Burger that we had to try it out. Before reviewing the meal - we spent $30 on two burgers, fries, and two beers...which is amazing for NYC.
Cheeseburger was good and the fries were perfect. Doesn't stack up to the shackburger, but well worth it. Location is excellent as well. One downfall - they won't cook to order. Each burger is cooked to the same temperature (or so it seems).
Worth going to, both for the price and location.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Dinner for under $20 in the Meatpacking District? It may sound unbelievable, but it happens every night at this no-frills burger and beer bar, located in the space formerly known as the Hog’s Pit. Decorated with little more than blue and red checkered tablecloths, Bill’s is a simple, brick-walled space that provides hungry hipsters with hamburgers that are as flat as flapjacks and seared on both sides (so don’t bother trying to order them medium rare). French fries, onion rings and spiked milkshakes round out the streamlined menu.
Great Burgers! – The service was great. Very attentive and friendly. The manager came to our table to introduce himself and make sure everything was OK. The menu is not for those looking for a healthy meal but if you want a great burger and some fries or a brownie sundae, this is the place.
Great food and service – this place is really good, they are very attentive(the manger even came over to us and introduced herself)i had the classic with cheese,the fat cat and a hot dog they were all top quality and perfectly cooked. i will be back soon
