Awesomely Delicious – After hearing about Ignazio's and being a pizza freak, I decided I had to get there and try it. I cannot believe that this hidden gem is close to where I work and not far from my home, lucky me. First the stuffed mushrooms. They were insane. They tasted like my italian nonna's.. then the meatballs.. If you are italian, you never order meatballs out.. We were tempted and tried them. I brought an extra order home. they were fabulous. The bread they give you with them too was homemade and if I didn't have to save room for pizza, I would have eaten a loaf. Now, the finale... This pizza is one of the best I have had.. EVER! The crust was perfectly cooked and crispy. The sauce was mouth-watering and the mozz was devine. The shrimp pizza had huge pieces of shrimp perfectly cooked with applewood bacon, something I ordinarily wouldn't eat, but once tasted, I almost couldn't stop. The Sicilian pie was absolutely phenomenal.. What a crust..

WORST NY EXPERIENCE EVER (check Yelp!). – The place is only in business because it's around the corner from Grimaldi's so people default there when the line’s too long for the NY landmark. No table was large enough for our group at @1 in the afternoon, so we asked if we could sit and order pizza at the bar, and were told "fine." Our treatment was the worst nightmare restaurant experience I've had in travelling around the world and living in NY for over 25 years. The food order was taken (drinks were prompt; only a couple relatives who were our guests from out of town ordered pizza to have the "NY pizza experience"), and then one person's dish was brought out promptly. The pizza never showed. When we saw table after table that had come in long after us being served pizzas, and the relatives who’d ordered pizza got nervous, I as the host went to check on where our group's pizza was -- blank stares, no apology for having forgotten to put in the ticket, denials that we'd been waiting 40 minutes when in fact it had been over an hour -- and then when I explained that my relatives were going to need to leave for the airport shortly, the waitress told me that the kitchen "hadn't put the order in b/c my relative “A” had left the restaurant" -- one person in our 10-person group had stepped outside to use his cell phone to be sure his flight was on time (and b/c the cell reception is a dead zone --much like the customer service rating). The rest of our group, including A's partner who was still seated at the bar and who'd ordered the pizza, was in the restaurant the entire time, making it clear the story was a bogus attempt to cover for an error that we'd have readily forgiven had it been acknowledged instead of BLAMING US for their dropping our ticket (really - if they were so concerned about one person in a 10 person group stepping outside, who was always in view through plate glass windows, wouldn't the only logical thing be to check with everyone still sitting there?). After the pizza was put in, I was hanging with our group and we thought the matter was over when the manager/owner came over to justify his people's error instead of just leaving us alone (or, maybe even, acknowledging their mistake and apologizing?). When asked why we were upset, another local relative explained without ever raising his voice that the issue was that our pizza order had clearly been dropped, and the owner's response was to repeat the blame game of how "A" had stepped outside and then when that rang hollow even to him made up a NEW excuse about our order being "to go" when other people had been served in our group at the bar, and silverware and napkins had been brought out and placed for the pizza that never came - it was a complete fabrication! Then, rather than just let it go, or try to make it right, the owner asked US to leave -- I've never seen anything like it in my life (apparently from the reviews on Yelp, other patrons have seen equally rude treatment so clearly this is their norm - perhaps the reason they need to do the forced gratuity????...) The owner said he didn't want our business, and we "needed to leave." -- a threat of we didn't know what, since he was more than a little irrational. Not wanting to escalate, we left -- except for our out-of-town relatives whose pizza was now sitting on the counter and who prostrated themselves to be allowed to eat the pizza they'd waited for over an hour! From reading Yelp reviews, it's clear this restaurant doesn't expect to get repeat customers and doesn't care how they treat anybody. To top it off, the pizza was mediocre, and after electing to throw all of our party out of the restaurant (except for the 2 out of town relatives) in exchange for not charging us, they presented our guests with the bill - not just for their pizza and drinks, but for the entire group which they had forced out‼‼ Bottom line -- spare yourself this nightmare. Love NY, hate Ignazios

Ignazio’s most popular Margherita rendition “The Pizza” is all about the crispy thin crust: there’s little chew and noticeably more sauce than cheese (although whole basil leaves are well-represented). Choose your own toppings--including everything from fennel sausage and applewood-smoked bacon to fresh garlic and caramelized onions--or get a specialty pie, like the white clam or the pineapple and ham.
