Love the burger and the dessert – The carrot cake at Bocado is excellent. Started my meal with the burger, one of the best in town, had a nice glass of wine and then ended with the carrot cake. I will be coming back here often. Love the westside in Atlanta, so many good restaurants with a lot of variety! Great atmosphere and I love how they have their wine rack set up behind the bar. The service is excellent here, they dont rush you out and allow you to enjoy your meal! A must visit
Best Dessert EVER! – I had probably the best dessert ever at Bocado. It is a chocolate, banana, peanut thing that is so light and delicious that I am going to go back some night JUST for that. I am usually not a fan of peanut and chocolate but it was not an overwhelming peanut butter flavor. It was almost just a peanut smell. I love the rest of their food as well (this is one of my favorite restaurants in town) but this dessert just takes the cake!
Burger was AMAZING – 1st time at Bocado after hearing about it. Saturday night, no reservation. Host seemed rather bothered by the no reservation as it was 7:00pm with a half empty dining room. So, we sat at the bar. Had the crab fritters and the cheese burgers. Crab was really good but the burger was great, the H&F bun is the perfect match with the burger. Herb fries a bit soggy, but tasty. Menu selection was decent. Did not have dessert. Bar service a bit slow with one other couple having dinner, but the bartender was very nice. I will be back for sure!!
Why I kind of like this burger better than H&F – I honestly think Bocado has, hands down, the best sandwiches in Atlanta. Every one has an obvious amount of thought given to it, adding things like apples and lemon creme fresh to your usual ham n swiss or turkey and cheese. But a few days ago I saw a dude sitting two tables over eating their burger, and I just couldn't resist.
It's pretty much an honest rip-off of the H&F burger. A not-to-big, not-to-small double cheeseburger that's even served on a bun from H&F Bakery and topped with house-made pickles. Here's pretty much the only difference: H&F throws red onions in the mix, and Bocado doesn't. I HATE red onions with a passion... so this propels the Bocado burger (in my book) into a slight lead. Plus the setting is California-cool and they never run out of their signature item.
gross – Since I live nearby, I wanted very badly for this to be somewhere I could go frequently. The burger I had on one visit was good, but certainly not worth the 'tude you get from the servers.
This place is trying really hard to be a fancy-schmancy restaurant, but the servers act as if they were recruited from the Vortex... or maybe Waffle House (and some of the food is comparable). The bad lighting and wobbly furniture gives a distinct Ikea-cafeteria feel.
I forgave Bocado for its shortcomings on the first visit, rationalizing that perhaps they were still getting their act together since they were yet a new place. But the second visit was as bad and the third, worse.
Do yourself a favor and take your date and your hundred bucks somewhere else.
Try it out! – Really cool bar and the staff is very friendly.
What I love the most is how unique the menu is. I walked in and was impressed by the decor, but once I had my first bite of oyster stew I was in heaven! I have now been back several times and each time tried something different and I'm always equally as impressed as the first visit.
Well-crafted gourmet sandwiches match the hip, modern decor. – In Short
Lodged in a beautifully modern space, Bocado has a Westside address but the feeling is pure West Hollywood. The space is clean and airy, a stunning mix of woods, whites and patios book-ending the place. Like LA, it’s the type of space that will rival food for diner’s attention. Boasting an intriguing list of sandwiches, salads and small plates, the fresh-happy menu mirrors the West Coast vibe. Apples get paired on ham and cheese sandwiches, roast turkey gets dressed with arugula and lemon crème fresh, pimento cheese upgrades with a fried green tomato. Tomato bisque comes topped with a tart parmesan crouton while salads are light but complex. Yes, the small plates served for dinner are certainly worthy of a visit, but in our mind, the perfect accompaniment to such a space and outdoor seating is a light and interesting lunch.
A Bad Example of Serving the Customer – Very disappointed will be the two words to describe the attention and service received. While Wayne the bartender poured great drinks, the response to an event gives me pause to ever return or even recommend this restaurant.
Last night while drinking at the bar prior to dinner, the valet was broken into with the majority of keys stolen. A car was stolen and patrons were left without keys to their cars. Interestingly, the owner of the restaurant took almost 45 minutes to go around to tables, ask about their cars and to tell them what happened. Many patrons had to go out to the valet and find out they had no keys.
No comps, no real apology but was provided was a brush-off that amounted to I don't know how to handle this, I hired the valet company and you'll have to deal with them. Are you kidding? Good thing there was a group of us since no arrangements were even offered to go get an extra set of keys nor to replace the keys that were stolen.
A new restaurant? Yes. A new owner? Perhaps yes. A sign of inexperience and only thinking about the bottom line and not the customer? A wholehearted yes.
When leaving, the owner said, I hope you won't hold this against the restaurant. Hate to tell you, I do.
I'm Confused, Another Great Burger Joint! – Now I'm confused, who has the best burger? We've always headed to H&F, in a hurry, but now up pops Bocado. The burgers are terrific, especially at lunch time. I don't have to wait until 9pm, no offense H&F. Very good gourmet sandwiches also. All my neighborhood foodies, I keep running into. Can't I have anything to myself? :)
