The BEST food on the planet! – Can't say enough about how good this place is. If you love good food and love great service, RUN, DON'T WALK to this place!!! FANTASTIC!!!

Service was excellent. They didn't pressure you to order, didn't wisk your plate away when you might not have been finished [had to resit licking my plate clean] and were very friendly.
If I have to have one negative it would be that I thought the drinks were a bit on the pricy side. Now don't let that prevent you from visitng a high quality establishment. It is well worth the price!

A treat from delicious start to delicious finish! – I was very surprised to see a negative review of Sprout, but I guess there's no accounting for taste. Literally. My suggestion: Go and make up your own mind.
Yes, the chef is Top Chef runner-up Dale Levitski, and yes, he was on TV. But I think people like Dale for other reasons. Like the fact that he is genuinely nice and knows his way around a kitchen. My friend and I worked up our nerve to ask our server if we could meet Dale, and he came out and chatted with us and could not have been sweeter.
But Sprout is about the food and service, both of which I found to be exceptional. Start off with one of Sprout's original cocktails (they change all the time and all I've had have been interesting and refreshing) or a beer or wine from their very good lists. I think the fixed-price, three-course (with a couple of surprises thrown in!) meal is the way to go. Again, Dale uses seasonal foods and doesn't just keep doing the same dishes over and over, so the dishes I have enjoyed might not be on the menu when you are here. But I will say this: If the short ribs are on the menu, grab them! The pork belly appetizer is also a standout, but I've never tasted anything at Sprout that wasn't layered with amazing, unique, and totally delicious flavors.
Whenever I have been there, the service has always been warm and welcoming. Maybe the person who was so disappointed was at Sprout at the dinner rush on a weekend. Go in the middle of the week. Take friends. Relax, have a drink, and prepare to enjoy a meal of unusual subtlety and amazing flavor. If the place isn't too busy, ask Dale to come on out and say hi.
Sprout is a great restaurant, and we are lucky to have it!
Overrated – People seem to be in love with the chef - why, I don't know. I guess if you are on TV, you must be great, we are too mindless to make decisions on our own.
Food is OK, far from great.
Attitude from the staff and the chef is that we are way too cool, you probably don't deserve to be here, even though we are charging you a lot of money.
Outside of that, the place is great.
4TH TIME IS THE CHARM! – What a charming neighborhood bistro. Wasn't sure what to expect from this open then closed then open again new lincoln park spot, but it surprised me and my friends. Dale Levitski from Top Chef has figured it out. I loved that you had 2 choices to either go with the Chef's Selection menu for a bargain at $60 or order A la Carte My husband had the short ribs and I had the Rabbit Entree, both were simply amazing.. but not so simple dishes at all. We wll definitely be back and brings friends.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Anyone who still thinks organic food is for hippies and health nuts will find it hard to reconcile this high-end French- and Italian-influenced bistro in Lincoln Park. Well-heeled couples from the neighborhood settle into velvety banquettes in the date-ready, mustard-tinged dining room to dig into seasonal finds like Alaskan halibut with blood orange salsa, rich escargot in beef marrow bones with tomato coulis, as well as classics like coq au vin. There's even a chef's tasting option. The menu is touted as being 90-percent organic, and the goal is still for a perfect 100.
