Racism Continues ... – I had a friend take his girlfriend and 40 friends to a scheduled and planned Bday party here. My friends are very careful accurate people so they checked the reservation 1 month 1 week and day of party. When they arrived the door greeter claimed no reservation after seeing the party was ethnically mixed. Asians, Hispanics and other typical Houston folks all turned away because of the Color of their skin or ethnicity
Unacceptable, this is 2011 and this has to stop please do not spend your MONEY HERE!
Red Room is Racist – We were having a party for Susanna. We called a month before, 1 week before, and 1 day before to confirm everything. When we showed up at 10:30, they told us that we had no reservation, that the Manager, Brad Stearns was fired yesterday, and they would not honor our reservation we made with him, leaving us wondering what to do. We had 40 people standing outside. A few of the people in our group got there before us and was let in, but when we showed up, they noticed Asian, Indian, and Hispanic people in our group, and they basically told us to leave. The big fat English guy who was at the door told my sister, her and her friends could come in, but everyone else would have to leave. I have never experienced a situation like this in my life. I was pretty embarrassed, but come to find out, this isn't the first time they have done this before. Needless to say, we went off to another place and had a great time. Here is a few links to write reviews. Places like this should not exist. Please let Houston know what a bunch of A-Holes these people are. Please take the time out and write a review. If I am missing a review link, please feel free to ad it.
Door Man is a sad little man – First let me just say that the guy with the British accent at the door is a jerk, he's rude and acts like an a$$. The place is way over rated and it basically sucked i don't know what the big deal was and why the door man makes it hard for people to get in, its a waste of time and Houston has many more places to go too. People need to stop going here and let this place go under, manly because they would allow such an Unprofessional A-hole to work at there door.
Doorman is a big douche!!! – Went out on a Saturday to the Red Room and found out this place is not at all what people make it out to be. There is a bar downstairs with a lounge area which is fine but the upstairs area sucked. It was way to crowded and they only had two restrooms. As much money as people spend in this place I know they can afford to put in a decent amount of restroom stalls. The DJ wouldn't even play a full song. The worst thing about this place is the nazi-door man. He is unprofessional when addressing his fellow co-workers and he is especially rude to the consumers. You couldn't pay me to go back to this place.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Café Adobe entrepreneur Beau Thierot brings Upper Kirby an upscale lounge worthy of New York nightlife, where you enter through a scenic botanical courtyard complete with tables, heaters and a fountain. Downstairs: soothing ambient music drifts through several small rooms that recall an only slightly gaudy palace chamber—antiques and abstract paintings abound, as do plush zebra-skinned and red velvet stools, sofas and armchairs. Upstairs: the crowd thickens as DJ-spun mash-ups pulse from speakers under exposed brick, while the glamorous congregate around reserved tables and strut on a small parquet dance floor. House liquors are premium.
Red Room Suave – Everytime I have been to the Red Room, its been a Blast. I have been solo, with a date and with a group.
Always a Marvelous Time. No Drama, No Plex. Just good vibes. The expanded downstairs is totally knarly. Looking Forward to Spring time on the Patio.
Thank you for creating an exclusive gathering place, with class and style.
Douch bag land – I ithis place have a great concept but very crappy attitud they believe they are an exclusive place because they have an ignorant monkey at the door which is willing to say or do anything if you throw him a few bucks I personally never had an issue getting in to places including this one but once inside I decide to leave the place because is douchbag land full of $100 dollar millionares which need to thow a hundreds to bully girls realy?? And people feel exclusive because they can do that, but with 100 and an ignorant you can do whatever
An Absolute Waste of Effort – A friend of mine recently heard about Red Room, and thought it would be a nice alternative to Washington so we decided to check it out last night. When we arrived in 3 separate cars, we were all charged $10 for valet, which we didn't have a problem with. As we walked toward the entrance, we were told that last night was reservation only. I understand that it is a small place, but the website does not say reservation only on Saturdays. We were there all of 1 minute and still charged $10 each for valet. To top it all off, I realized this morning that the valet moved my headlight setting to on instead of auto. I now have a dead battery:) I will never darken the doors of Red Room again.
Along with maybe one or two other places, Red Room is easily my favorite night spots in Houston. It's clean, elegant, and the staff is amazing. And I dont care what anyone says, the Door Guy is AWESOME. Perfect place is you are tired of the washington crowd.
I LOVE the Red Room.
Red Room Rising – Went there a few weeks ago for a birthday party. It took us a long time to find the place as it is hidden above the street, we must have driven past it four or five times! Got to the front gate and there was a group being told by doorman it was reservation only, they looked like good people so I was hesitant, thankfully we had pre-booked and after a a quick list and I.D. check we were inside. The heavily accented doorman told us that it was beacuse they were so small he could only fit so many in, I found that hard to believe until I got upstairs.
It is a red room indeed, and yes it is very small, It was full but there was still room to navigate between the exotic furniture. The waitress guided us to our table and promptly dealt with our order, pretty reasonable rates for bottle service too. The music was awesome, as the DJ was playing some mash up classic grooves. Crowd looked nice, it was an older crowd, mid 30's but they were partying like 21 yr olds!
