Citysearch Editorial Review. This small, modern eatery on 3rd and Seneca downtown serves Liège waffles, a dense, chewy Belgian variety made fresh to order as you watch behind the counter. In addition to decadent breakfast classics like strawberry with whipped cream and banana brulee with caramel sauce, they also offer unique combinations you won’t find anywhere else, like their brie and basil waffle. Sweet Iron strives for big taste with a small environmental impact, using compostable silverware and local organic ingredients whenever possible. The food is reasonably priced and portions are modest enough for breakfast or a snack, though not filling enough on their own for a bigger meal. With only three tables and a maximum occupancy of twelve, these waffles are one of the tastiest carryout options in the area.

Finally, a waffle on the go.. A small, roughly 100 square foot, waffle specialty shop offering sweet and savory waffle options with gourmet (Stumptown) coffee. For those working nine to five there's finally a waffle option for that quick (and very sweet) lunch or snack. The menu is very short, only offering a dozen or so choices, but the waffles are delicious with a touch of sweetness. Don't think that a traditional syrup covered carb fest is your only option. Sweet Iron also offers a number of savory options including their brie and basil waffle. Unlike the rest of downtown, they are open on the weekends and cater to the dinner crowd (open until 7pm) during the week. Just don't expect to linger long. With a small space and only three tables, it's best to eat these waffles on the go.
