Set back from the strip, the Aria is somewhat of an oasis from all the Vegas crazy. Biggest bonus of its of-the-beaten path location? You will always get a cab in a minute or less, which anyone who's every queued up at one of the bigger casinos at peak hour knows is no small thing. Liquid pool party is always a good time and there's an in-hotel club, which is convenient if you're staying at the Aria or Vdara and want to be able to limp home.
Too many little issues - NOT a 5 Diamond hotel – It's been a month since my trip and my first time writing a review. I needed to share my experience, since I go on vacation to have fun and not to deal with little issues.
First, I had an offer for a free suite, but when I called to reserve a room, I was told I would have to pay for the difference between a regular room and a suite. There was no asterisk on my offer or anything that stated the room type was based on play, but they said they had the right to change the offer at any time. In my opinion, that is a Bait and Switch! I almost went to another hotel, but wanted to experience the technology and new rooms at Aria. A note to management didn't help, as they said I refused to pay, so I didn't get the suite. They didn't get that I wanted what I was offered, or I shouldn't have received the offer! I've used other offers at other MGM Resorts and those have been redeemed at face value with no issues, so this is an Aria problem.
Second, upon check in, the front desk said they would send something up to help celebrate my birthday, but we left 3 days later with nothing. Management stated it was late when we checked in, so the correct department didn't get the requested delivery until the next morning. Well, they still had 2 full days to deliver something, unless that department doesn't work weekends. I was offered a $50 food credit the next time I visit, but again, this from a 5 Diamond hotel!?!
Third, the room was nice and the technology in the room was great! However, the windows were dirty, the black-out shades didn't quite reach the top of the window so the sun came through by 7am each morning, and a room service tray was outside the next room for a day and a half. Also, we noticed that during the night the temperature went up so much that I was sweating in bed. The AC was set for 70, but the room was 75. When I got up to turn it down, the AC kicked on then. It was as if the AC went to sleep when we did.
Lastly, I booked a car service from the airport to the hotel through Aria. The ride was nice, on time, and I paid the driver when we got to the hotel. Ten days later, Aria charged my credit card for the service. I called the front desk, was told they would investigate, and would email me or call on the status. During the four days I waited, I googled the car service, CLS Nevada, only to find reviews where customers were charged $1000-2000 extra on their credit card! Now, why would a 5 diamond hotel use this service as their preferred service? No one from the hotel has responded to this question. My credit card was credited, but I had to call back and ask the status of the investigation, no one contacted me, as they said they would.
All in all, I've decided Aria is not the resort where I want to spend my money. The newer rooms and technology are not worth the hassle!
Poor customer service! – My family and I just returned from our vacation in Las Vegas. We were at the Aria just one night as a last minute change when we added one day to our trip. I will say that the view and architecture of the Aria is beautiful but customer service was some of the worst I have seen recently. My husband and I went to sleep but early but about 12am we both realized that the room was slightly warm even though we had the temp set on 70. About 1:30 am we both woke up and both said how warm it still felt so we lowered it to about 68. By 3am we both knew it was not going to get better. From there on it was basically just small naps till our wake up time of 6am. Our bellman came for our bags about 10am and asked if our stay was enjoyable which we explained that it was not because of the temp in our room. He said to make sure we spoke to the front desk concerning that. When we did speak to them a few minutes later we got nothing more than ?Im sorry but you should have called so we could have sent a technician to your room.? My husband then explained that it would not have helped us by 3am to call and have someone come to our room as we would have gotten even less sleep. That got us nowhere. While my husband tried calmly to reason with them I began to notice two other couples becoming very frustrated with two different ladies at the checkout area. I am very disappointed in this outwardly beautiful hotel with the extremely poor customer service! Before the Aria we stayed at the Venetian and were so pleased by excellent service from the entire staff. Although we had no issues with the Venetian I did over hear one couple and another individual that was not happy with certain things during their stay and the front desk immediately responded with ?I will take care of that right away.? You could see right away that they had a customer for life! I now refuse to stay at the Aria due to their poor service and leave this review for others to decide for themselves.
a great place to stay in Vegas – I read one of the reviews below that summed it up very well. It is very nice and opulent without the old person feel. It is in fact very chic and current. We stayed in basic room. It was very nice with comfortable mattresses and expensive linens. The whole new city center is very pretty. I dont really gamble that much so I really liked the fact that the city is not so centered around gaming. If you are looking for a nice not so vegas experience this it.
International Design – After reading the reviews on this property I felt as though I should offer my opinion. I selected Aria because of the architecture and was not let down. The entire complex of the “New” city center of Vegas is completely phenomenal. Well designed and contemporary, describe the lobby and it smells great. Sounds funny, but there is an aromatherapy thing happening.
After reading the reviews of service, I was not expecting much. I have to say that the check-in process was quick, as quick as a property this size can be. I also arrived at peak-time so there was a line; however, the staff was on-hand to expedite the line. The bell-staff were readily available. When you enter your room everything turns on and the drapery open automatically. I am a techie person so this was kind of cool to me.
The room as clean and well designed. I was on the 11th floor, deluxe king with a city view. I would highly recommend this level. The view was awesome.
The staff was always accessible during my stay. Very friendly and willing to answer my questions and the concierge made some great recommendations.
The shopping at Crystals is beyond belief. If you are looking for the latest and right off the runway looks, you going to be happy. It is the right size, unlike the “Mega” waste your time walking for hours “Malls” down the strip.
I liked the size of the casino. It was a good starting point. If you want higher stakes you will have to go to your favorite spot.
Check out is made very easy. You can check out via text, email, check out card (available in your key packet) or at the front desk. I checked out via email and got my itemized statement attached.
Overall, great stay!
WORST SERVICE IN VEGAS and lousy comps – I have been to Vegas 6 times. I have stayed in Caesars, MGM, Hard Rock, and the Palms. The rooms at Aria are high tech, modern, and well done. However, I went with a group of friends for a bachelor party and we could not book rooms together, and only some us ended up with double beds. When we arrived at the Aria we had to lug our baggage and golfvbags in through the double non automatic doors ourselves as the hotel personnel was no where to be found. This became a common theme for the weekend as times we wanted to leave with our golf clubs the bell/baggage person would tell us to walk around the round about to other side to talk to someone about getting a limo and our golf clubs. I thought I was at a vegas hotel charging me 300 a night. Amenities?? The normal casino .. only one conversation with one bellhop and bags are delivered, large tip is given. The Aria is extremely poorly managed. I averaged 100-200 per hand for 8-10 hours each day, but if you win money the Aria will not comp you. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are too many other great places to stay in Vegas. FYI this was my experience despite winning 6500$.
WORST customer service EVER. never stay here – First off, I have never written a review after going to vegas about two dozen times in the past 4 or 5 years. But this was such a sad experience I decided to write one.
Never plan for a group of people to go. We booked two rooms in advance with two QUEEN beds. We got there, and the first thing we hear is that they overbooked a TON of people. So in other words, they had no rooms with two queens left, and could only offer us a room with ONE king bed. We asked for roll aways, they said they ran out. We got there close to 7pm and they ran out of roll aways already. We said that there's no way we can function with one bed, and asked to be upgraded because at NORMAL hotels, if they mess up on their end, they either accomodate you or upgrade you. HOWEVER, the receptionist, who was VERY rude by the way, just said "NO." I even told her it was my birthday, which it really was, and she still said no. She didn't give us a reason or anything, just that "we can't". I felt like a real second class citizen. I felt like they didnt care about their customers at all. There was another guy who got the same treatment, and he was literally screaming on the concierge phone to get management to come down, but im guessing they just ignored his request. He was literally screaming, the whole casino floor could hear him. Vdara according to my friends was terrible too. their so called "suite" are a sorry excuse for a vegas hotel. Vdara was very "nickle and dime". And everyone there told me they felt like it felt like a cheap knock off. Initially looks nice, but when you stay there, your realize how cheap they are.
Simply Amazing – Spent 4 nights at Aria for a guys trip, and the first day in decided that I will only stay at Aria from this point forward. This hotel has the same elegance and class of the Bellagio/Wynn/Venetian, without the "old person" feeling. It is very contemporary and chic. With that, you will spend some good money there, if you're not willing to then go somewhere else; but with anything you always get what you pay for and here it was worth every penny.
The only drawback was that there was no cell phone coverage on the entire casino floor (Verizon coverage), so I had to go to the door to check for messages. But besides that the casino is very nice and the sportsbook is only topped by the Palazzo.
The rooms live up to the technology they boast. Your alarm clock also serves as your remote control, thermostat, and light switch. Everything in the room is top of the line and comfortable.
We only had one real dinner, at Union, and it lived up to the expectations I have had with restaurants managed by The Light Group, as was the nightclub Haze. The buffet was reasonably priced and had the same amenities as any other buffet in town.
It seemed to be a bit of a lower crowd than I would of expected, but I assume the economy is playing a big part in that now, but when in Las Vegas your budget should just be based on whatever it takes to have a good time. Enjoy this resort before it gets too popular.
