I bought one of the Customer Car Care Cards for a reasonable price, so I switched from having my oil changed at either Oil Can Henry's or Jiffy Lube to having it done at Meineke.
I called and found out that they wouldn't book any appointments after 4pm. Since I work until 5pm and it is a drive from my workplace to Meineke, I had to schedule my oil change for a Saturday at noon. When I got there, a little before noon, I stood at the counter for probably 15 minutes before anyone came in to help me. There was no way to ring a bell to get attention or anything. One gentleman in front of me waited and finally left, unable to get anyone to help him.
The waiting room was outdated, crowded, and uncomfortable. The seats were old metal chairs crammed next to each other, and there were several other customers already in the room. The television was old, the area smelled, and the magazines were outdated. There was no way I was going to wait an hour in that room, so I left and walked around nearby.
When I returned at 1pm, I was told that my vehicle wouldn't be ready for another hour. This was ridiculous, so I called someone to pick me up, and we left the area to go elsewhere (there is almost nothing in the nearby vicinity to entertain a person waiting for a lube job). It was 3pm before my vehicle was done.
I returned to the site, found out that the only thing that had been done was the oil change, and even then they did not put in synthetic oil (they hadn't even asked what type of oil I wanted). I paid the $60 or so and went out to my vehicle, where my dad proceeded to look over the car to make sure it would still run. Fortunately, the car still ran, and nothing was missing.
I have had my oil changed at both Oil Can Henry's and Jiffy Lube and neither one took more than a lunch break (1 hour) to complete. I didn't have to make an appointment on a Saturday to have it done, and both places look at more than just my oil (brake fluid, differentials, power steering, etc.). The service here was atrocious--I can't believe it took 15 minutes before someone came to check in at the front desk! I have no idea why a oil change took THREE HOURS to complete.
Even though I still have the discount customer card, I will NOT be returning to Meineke. I have already flushed almost $120 down the drain with their slow work, and sloppy customer service; I am not going to put any more into them, and I recommend you avoid them as well unless they have greatly changed since I last visited them.
Nothing but nice people here and great work. I know I'm getting my money's worth and it's getting done right the first time.
Unbeatable – I have been a regular customer here for 9 years now. I don't take my car anywhere else. The service is great, work is amazing, and prices are unbeatable. I recommend anyone to come here.
I Trust Them – I have been coming here for a few years now. I really trust these guys. They do such a great job, and work very quickly. I don't take my car anywhere else, and recommend this place to all of my friends.
I come here for simple things I need done quick, instead of going to the dealership. They are nice and efficient and get me in and out and back to my busy life.
When I needed a new battery they helped me out – I don't have extensive experience with this store, but when I needed a new battery they helped me out. I was finishing up installation in the parking lot and the cashier came out and asked if everything was going okay. She also took my old battery away for disposal.
Bad Diagnosis, No Repair, No Follow-up – Does Meineke bear any responsibility for diagnosing and fixing a problem with your car? If you listen to Mienieke, apparently not!
Last December, my wife was visiting relatives in the Beaverton, Oregon area where we have a second home. I couldn't come because of my job. While she was driving the car she heard a noise coming from the rear end and was concerned it was something serious. She took her car to a Meineke service center at 13203 SW Canyon Road to find out what was wrong. They gave the car a complimentry(free) evaluation and one of the technicians test drove it around the parking lot. She called me from the service center with the results of the evaluation which included a lot of items not related to a noise in the rear end. Like replace the oxygen sensor, fan belts, etc. The only item on the list related the the rear end was replacing the oil in the differential, so I told her to get that completed and I would deal with the other items when I could drive the car. The oil replacement, invoice #49615, cost $80. She drove the car another few hundred miles but still heard the noise. Since she had limited time in Oregon, I told her to drive our other car and I would deal with the issue when I was in Beaverton in the Spring. When I drove the car, it was immediately obvious that there was some kind of metal-to-metal contact in the rear end, probably something to do with the brakes. I pulled both brake drums and sure enough, one of the left rear brake linings had come loose and the front shoe was making direct contact with the drum. I had to replace the shoes and drum so $100 later the problem was corrected.
I went the Meineke service center and spoke with Mr. Greg Massey, the manager. He told me that Meineke did not bear any responsibility for diagnosing and/or correcting the problem and, sometimes these thiings sometimes just slip by their technicians. He did not offer any kind of compensation or refund. I would think that something this obvious as a defective brake shoe would be easy to diagnose and fix. I figured it out right away and I'm not even a professional mechanic. I am not satisfied at all with Meineke's treatment of this issue and further think they should refund the $80 price of the rear end oil change. I am really upset that they denied any responsibility for diagnosing a simple problem that could have had major consequences. To top it off, I called Meineke "Corporate Headquarters' and somebody named Monica called back and left a message. I made repeated return calls with messages but she never called me back. I will never take my car to Meineke plus I will enjoy telling my friends how Meineke handles their business.
I would rate it a "0" if I could.
Dedication and Hard Work – Efficiency, Thoroughness and Professionalism are Meineke's strongest points. I always try to refer business their way, because I feel like that's the only way I could really pay them back for all their dedication and hard work.
Best maintenance service – This auto shop has provided the best maintenance service for my vehicles for years. I have no reason to go anywhere else. I have no complaints. I plan on being a customer for life, as long as they're still around.
Hard Work and Efficiency – Meineke makes getting your car serviced and easy process. They get you in and out of there, with thorough work being done. I really appreciate their hard work and efficiency. Thank you.
