Healthy Mexican in the Mission? – So I went in on what I thought was a slow Wednesday night, this place was pretty slammed, which is good for a niche restaurant. I actually am not vegan but I have culinary ADD so I had to try this place. This place hit the right spot and even though I over indulged I didn't get that dreaded food coma, The one drawback I had was that my meal wasn’t spicy enough and I had to add some of the spicy hot sauce to it. The price was reasonable. I paired it with a Sangria, which tasted more like a Fruit Shake than a Sangria (I want more booze in my Sangria than fruit…but I let this slide). The other drawback for a Mexican Restaurant, no chips served with salsa? How else are you suppose to start off a meal? Either way, if you are on the prowl for some healthy Mexican, vegan or not, you should give this place a shot. If you are drunk/want to get drunk, this is not the mexican joint you envisioned. Also, cashew-based cheese? Not so bad...

Citysearch Editorial Review – Next time you get a hankering for Mexican food in the Mission--probably the next time you're in the Mission--skip the 2,000-calorie grease log from Taqueria Cancun and try this new Mexican restaurant from the gurus behind Café Gratitude. It’s both organic and vegan/vegetarian, with most of its food--think butternut squash quesadillas with caramelized onion and cashew cheese or poblano tamales with stone-ground heirloom masa--coming from the company’s own local, biodynamic Be Love Farm. And, as always, everything on the menu comes with a free side of the freakishly positive vibe Cafe Gratitude is so famous for.
