It can be loud and filled with NYU students, but it can also be a cool place to chill -- couches in the back offer relaxation when your feet just can't take any more standing.

Nice atmosphere. Disliked the service. – While the atmosphere was nice I was not impressed with the service. And considering what we were paying...I would expect much better service!!

Firstly, the bartenders were rude.

The part that bothered me the most was the doorman. We recently had a party for my brother at this bar. My brother is being deployed this month for Afghanistan. We had upwards of 50 people at the bar. Our parents came to the party to see their son before he deploys. My 62 year old step mother was not granted access to the bar because she didn't have her drivers license on her. While other young girls were allowed access to the bar without ID he refused to let my step mother in without her ID.

In hurricane like weather my parents walked back to their car to get her vehicle registration.

I dont' mind paying high prices when the service meets those prices. This was far from the case here.

Much better places to go in Manhattan.

Awesome food and atmosphere – I love this place! The inside is cool with dark wood and deep red so it's still casual but definitely a little more upscale than a regular bar. The food is outstanding - I've tried the Common Burger (seriously amazing, you must try it because they cook it in a special way!), the honey chili wings (by far the biggest, juiciest and most flavorful wings I've had in a long, long time), the duck sliders, pulled pork sliders, even the herbed rotini pasta is good! Then the garlic fries and smoked gouda mac & cheese...it was all delicious!

Best Brunch In the Hood – Went to West 3rd Common for brunch on Saturday. I read about their unlimited bloody's, mimosas, and screwdrivers on some website. The drinks were flowing fantastically (probably the best bloody mary I've ever tasted).

I ordered the French Toast, which was amazing. My friends ordered the Southwest Benedict and the Fried Chicken and Waffles. The benedict looked amazing. I'm not a fried chicken kind of guy, but my girlfriend said it was awesome. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

One gripe, it took about a half hour for our food to show up. The place was packed (three huge tables), so we were sympathetic, but it does suck when you're starving and the food takes a while. Fortunately all the drinks kept us occupied.

Brunch was bad – Food around the table was not good, ranging from plain and average to outright ugly (cold, over-vinegared eggs benedict). One guest felt somewhat nauseous after leaving. Running out of Mimosas after one round in an unlimited drinks brunch in a rather quiet place is shameful, especially with several liquor stores within a few blocks.

Citysearch Editorial Review – An offshoot of Alphabet City’s Common Ground, this gastropub draws sports fans, mature NYU undergrads and Noho locals in need of a neighborhood stomping ground. Red suede banquettes, giant crystal chandeliers, an ornate mirror, exposed brick walls and high-back bar stools make West 3rd Common a more upscale yet still affordable version of its sister bar. Plenty of cafe tables, board games, a good jukebox, a menu filled with comfort food favorites, an accommodating staff and eight flat-screens give it a relaxed atmosphere perfect for meeting up with friends or catching a game.

Love the food and the atmosphere – I live across the street and started coming in as soon as they opened...a far better atmosphere than the previous lounge that was here. The food is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend it. Internet jukebox and naked photo hunt is a big plus as well.
