Although Ideal Moving and Storage company advertises that its goal is to make a move as stress-free as “humanly possible,” it subjected me and my 96-year-old mother to one of the most stressful experiences of our lives. We were transporting some of my mother’s belongings 150 miles to an assisted living facility. Ideal planned to accomplish this in one day, and we accordingly arranged for them to arrive at the apartment at 8 a.m. I re-confirmed this plan three days in advance. On moving day, we waited all day, frequently calling and being given various explanations for the delay and false assurances about when they would show up. They finally arrived at 4 p.m., too late to do much at all, and they were obligated to return the next day to effect the move. I was promised that some accommodation would be made on the price to compensate for the breach of the contract and the extreme anxiety caused by their negligence.
Next day an extra team showed up at 8:00 and efficiently loaded the truck. Upon arrival at the destination the movers, acting on instructions from the office, insisted on being paid in full in cash before they would begin unloading. Weeks earlier we had contracted for an hourly rate of $110, with an estimate of $990 plus tolls and materials. I had originally been assured that at most the job would take an extra hour, or $110 additional. But now, having agreed to “work with me” on the price, they demanded $1745, in cash, on the spot, or else they would not unload the truck. This included a $300 charge for “materials” which consisted of very few cartons (we had supplied the rest), a modest amount of tape, and a little bubble wrap. There were blankets, too, but the men took them back with them.
Backed into a corner, I protested quite loudly, and negotiated to lower the ransom to $1500 which I paid in cash. (Ideal obviously has had experience with disgruntled customers who direct their credit card companies not to honor the charges.)
I had previously thought that this type of hostage-taking was restricted to terrorists and organized crime. Now I know better.

After my first move from Miami to New York City, during which I used movers, I was very disappointed with the whole industry. I therefore moved from SC to FL myself with multiple U-Haul Trailers. This was a very tiresome and long experience.
My most recent move was from New York City to Atlanta and I went with Ideal Moving & Storage Inc.
Admittedly, I was sceptical at first; however the entire experience has been very eye opening and positive.
Their quote over the phone was a bit off (probably due to the fact that I have a ridiculous amount of Chachke). I dealt directly with JC and she was at all-time extremely professional, helpful and available.
The Pickup: Feb 1st 2013
The three man team was late by only 20 minutes but they made up the time in loading everything carefully and efficiently. The team was courteous and willing to help pack the last few items.
The team leader contacted the delivery driver directly in front of me to confirm the date of delivery Feb 5th 2013
En route: Feb 4th 2013
I received a phone call directly from the driver stating that he would be there in the afternoon between 1pm and 2pm. He told me that the balance would have to be paid in terms of money order or cash. However, I had already discussed using a Cashier's Check with the office previously.
Again, not a problem. She called the driver and it was all taken care of.
Delivery: Feb 5th 2013
At noon, the driver contacted me that he was an hour away.
All items were delivered carefully and efficiently.
I have just finished unpacking and so far I do not see ANY thing damaged. Quite impressive.
I did have to pay an additional Long Carry charge on delivery. However, once I saw the distance we had to walk from the elevator, I would have charged myself that!
Extremely professional moving company for a reasonable rate.
I will likely be moving again in two years and hope that they are still around. I have already recommended four other people to use their services.

STAY AWAY FROM IDEAL MOVING & STORAGE, Jacque Cole and Jacob were nice before the move but my move quickly turned into a nightmare> Ten boxes of personal stuff lost, thirteen days late and over $2,700 worth of damage and I was offered $79 as compensation.
Absolutely disgraceful. They were so nice and pleasant when I called. Then they picked up my stuff in New York and had failed to check that there was a street festival on something they admitted they should have known. They charged me extra for the walk then doubled my quote. Despite giving me a guarantee that my stuff would arrive over a 4 day window they then denied it when it was delayed. And they only told me they didn't deliver on weekends the day it was supposed to arrive. The estimate was $1070 and they charged me $2100. Plus I had to pay for a hotel because they had my bed and furniture. Just atrocious.
Very experienced and conscientious – You can be proud of your company because the team you sent was a pleasure to work with. They were a very experienced and conscientious group who worked with extreme speed and expertise. They were gracious and considerate. There was absolutely no overcharge or hidden expenses. And, everything arrived intact. In fact, some minor repairs were made where there were loose hinges and screws!
The move was made effortless and stressless for me and I would only give you the highest recommendation. In addition to my moving day experience I must also compliment your very competent efforts arranging the move and advising me prior to the move.
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the service your company provided to assist me with my move. From the moment I talked to you on the phone when I was calling around for estimates, you stood head and shoulders above the rest because of your courtesy and professionalism.
I have to say Jacque is extremely informative and was so helpful. I would recommend them to anyone their professionalism and customer service was absolutely the best. Thank you :)
Your company helped us move to a new apartment. So we wanted to take a moment to thank you. Even though the move was not a huge one your company was very helpful and professional. We were delighted with the way your crew handled everything and treated our furniture like it was their own. Thank you.
Thank you Jacque-you the first in moving – What can I say- spoke to ideal among other moving comonaies, but decided to go with some smack who did not show up on move date nor the next day- they were not equipped to do a small job and yet they claim they are moving professional company- good pitch but pissed me the hell off for not showing up. Thankfully I had all the mover emails still floating around, and called the same movers in desperations. They all said yes immediately- well I hang up, not ready to be fooled twice.
I spoke to Jacque, she did not do the silly customer sales man speech of we will be there- she instead said, will find out if we can accommodate you- “she had me at we check first” . She called back and said working on it and to give her 10minutes. Well 25 minutes later- they were able to add me to the schedule. I just got all my stuff in their Pink truck at the most reasonable price. Wish I had not wasted my time and listened to the horror story sales pitch. A business is worth a million dollars if their employees remain professional and sincere. I love this lady and we just met. NYC if you need movers, please call Jacque @ Ideal and listen to what she has to say first, she definitely did right by me. Last minute too.
