DON PISTO'S owner harassed us because we were two females. Shoved 7 plastic straws in our water, splashed water on our face, told us "don't be bad girls". He then takes photos of us with his iphone. When we question his behavior, he tells us "Get the F out". We forget our expensive umbrella. When we come back to get it, Don Pisto's owner broke our solid wood umbrella in half and threw it on the sidewalk. This all happened because we objected to be treated like a sex object.Females who are not accompanied by men are not safe at this restaurant. This was an appalling experience at the hands of the restaurant owner. It was out of this world.

Delicious Mexican food in North Beach – Wow who knew North Beach could be home to such a great Mexican restaurant! I love the decor of this place, very rustic. The menu is small but tasty! The salsa and guacamole were fresh and the chips are nice and salty. I tried both the ceviches (ahi tuna and shrimp) and I loved them both. The fish was very fresh. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they were really spicy and delicious. My one negative point is that the food came out at such large intervals of time that some people finished their food before others even received theirs. I know they have a small kitchen, but they need to coordinate better. I’d definitely come back though!

Citysearch Editorial Review – Now for something entirely different: Mexican food in North Beach. Don Pisto's, a new venture by Peter Mrabe (former manager of Betelnut) brings tacos, tortas and ceviche to this cozy little spot formerly occupied by El Raigon. There are a few other things on the menu, too, but on the whole, choices are limited. That just means the crew at Don Pisto's better make every item count. In order to do that, everything is prepared and ordered on an as-need basis. Salsas and guacamole are made in small batches, fresh, throughout the day. Tortillas come fresh from La Palma Mexicatessen in the Mission. Carne asada is brought in fresh from Little City Meat Market. Mrabe's concept is elevated street food evidenced best by the torta hamburguesa, ground beef marinated in bacon and onions and slathered in guacamole. Don't skip out on the hot churros and chocolate.
