Quiet Friendly lots of delivery menus – Who could have imagined that there would be such a friendly, quiet place as this in the middle of 14th Street? Simply a bar in front, with a few booths and one large table in back. On a Thursday night, the place was sparsely filled... that's the way we like it. Peter, the extremely friendly manager/bartender explained to us that Bunga was some character created by his screenwriter friend in Los Angeles. Sooner than later, his friend became that character, and the bar was named after him. There is some mummified creature in a corner in the back, but that is NOT Bunga.

No food, but there's a nice folder of delivery menus. That means you've got a bigger choice, at better prices than most bars. The staff is chatty, as are the regulars at the bar. The atmosphere is one third diner, two thirds neighborhood pub. It's a great oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle (mostly hustle) of 14th Street. I guess they have live music some nights, but not when we were there. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers

Citysearch Editorial Review – Cheap brews, a lively jukebox and friendly barkeeps make this a neighborhood bar worth knowing. With downtown overrun by lounges slinging $12 cocktails, it’s nice to see a tavern where you can tie one on without breaking the bank. Long and narrow, Bunga’s Den is decked out with kitsch-covered walls, cushy booths and a handmade wooden bar. It’s ideal for bending elbows while you drain one of 14 drafts (Kelso Nut Brown, Brooklyn Lager, Stella Artois--priced at $3.25 to $5.50), which can be supersized to 20 ounces for an extra $1 or paired with a Captain Morgan Lime Bite shot for $3.
