For the price and the amount of roast beef you get in one roll here, this place is my favorite quick East Village food-fix. There's nothing gourmet here, but you'll have so much fun slumming it with the "This Way" (cheez whiz) that you might end up ordering the "That Way" (mozzarella) for dessert. Ask for extra gravy and the fries to dip 'em in.
Lost my Business – This place used to be really good. Good Sandwiches, nice size, super friendly and attentive staff.
Over the last few months the portions have gotten smaller and not as tasty. I could probably live with that.
But they changed their whole staffing. Now they have hip bar tender types that treat you like they don't care. I used to swing by on the way home, but lately I've passed on it because I don't want to deal with it.
Tonight I tried ordering in, but the guy put me on hold while he chatted up some girl in the background. After about 15 minutes he decided to hang up on me. I called back to tell him how he... , but he decided to hang up on me in mid-sentence.
Their attitude is Want service? Wait till I'm ready..., Don't like the Service? Tough...
I will go elsewhere from now on.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Where’s the beef? It’s at This Little Piggy, a tiny and affordable East Village storefront dedicated to the pleasures of roast beef. It’s a perfect restaurant for indecisive diners, with just three sandwiches available: a pleasantly smoky, coleslaw-topped pastrami and roast beef done “this way” and “that way.” “This” finds the roast beef crammed into a chewy egg roll and drowned with Kraft Cheez Whiz, while “that” exchanges fake cheese for fresh mozzarella and is served on a crusty hero. Hand-cut fries, coleslaw and macaroni salad round out the menu.
Best Pastrami in Manhattan – I am once again wowed by the Artichoke Pizza Team! I stopped by this stand-only tiny sandwich shop and was completely pleased by the flavor and price of their sandwiches and Fries.
We got the "This Way" - Roast Beef sandwich on a kaiser roll with Chiz-wit melted and Pastrami Sandwich with Coleslaw on Rye bread. Also, we had 1 order of hand cut fries. The total came down to about $13, which cannot even buy a Katz Deli pastrami sandwich!
To be fair, Katz's sandwich is bigger and it is very tasty but with the same amount of money, I could probably buy 3 sandwiches here. The flavors of these sandwiches are amazing - juicy, tender, right combo of mustard, coleslaw and meat together.
I am so happy I live 1 block away! This is going to be my favourite stop in the hood!
