Upbeat southern style food using local ingredients w/an eye towards being green, fish & vegetables shine here as does the fried chicken. Recently opened Cove bar within the restaurant is raising the bar on fresh, raw & flavorful food.

Excellent lunch menu that makes me want to come back for dinner. The lunch special is super affordable considering the upscale nature of Haven. Fresh, seasonal ingredients and fun twists on classics makes Haven far more than a spot for ladies who lunch.

I had the best steak in the city - akaushi beef! – Chef Randy Evan's dishes are nouveau-American, basically American food reinvented with fresher ingredients, new spice, new presentation. What was once old becomes new, like the corn dog shrimp appetizer with the spicy cream sauce. His menu resonates with Houstonians -- one of the reasons he was voted Chef of the Year 2012 in the My Table Magazine Culinary Awards. The restaurant is elegant without being too stuffy, an excellent destination for a date, with an an affordable, well-curated wine list and cocktails to match.

Great food but waitstaff & Service is really horrible – They have wonderful food for lunch and the price is reasonable. I love the shrimp corn dogs and the fresh salads. The food is amazing.

The Service on the other hand was really lacking. The hostess was just not too friendly or cared if you got a table or not. The restaurant was not even full we had to wait. Since I know the food was great I told my guest to wait. But I was embrassed when it took 25 mins to get our drink order. The waiter just kept avoiding us. Finally I told him we would like to order and get our drinks at the same time so we do not burn 2 hours for lunch. He was so slow and I felt I was was imposing on his time to rest in the back and chat with his friends.

The food is amazing the service is just unbearable.

Citysearch Editorial Review – Chef Randy Evans is taking farm-to-table dining seriously. A raised-bed garden out back produces vegetables for the kitchen and the LEED-certified restaurant was built using reclaimed wood and salvaged equipment. Of course, the roots don’t show in the elegant, white tablecloth dining room or sleek bar, where the cocktail list was designed by Houston’s premier mixologist Bobby Heugel of Anvil. The menu of elevated, yet playful Southern dishes from wild boar chili to shrimp corndogs is not only regional in flavor, but most often in ingredients. The tomato sundae with lemon olive oil ice cream and confit free range chicken with bacon spaetzle are simultaneously inspiring and comforting and best topped off with a slice of buttermilk and pecan pie.

overpriced Grub – I found the food over-priced for the quality and quantity and will not go back

Great Dinner Spot – In credible dinner. Went there with 7 of my family members and had a wonderful time. We sampled all of the appetizers and they were very tasty. My girlfriend had the vegetarian plate which was incredible and very reasonably priced. I had the fish and crab dish. They have some long island Iced Teas that they are calling John Daly's which are very good.

The Valet could be better, parking is small. Park by Taco Cabana and walk.

The outdoor seating doesn't look good because you face the street and dumpster. Stay inside.

long wait with reservations – I had heard about the wait with reservations so I called and pushed back our reservations to 9 pm. We arrived and were amongst a crowd of people who all had reservations but were still standing in a crowded bar losing their patience.

My wife and I grabbed two seats at the bar and ordered a glass of wine. The true highlight of the evening was the couple we met while sitting at the bar who were also well versed on the restaurant scene and made the time go by quickly. I ordered a glass of red wine and toward the end of my glass with some wonderful liquid left inside the bartender snatched it up and there went my glass of wine. It’s not like he couldn’t see I mean the color is Red hence RED WINE. Did I complain, no because I feel in Houston nothing gets done about a complaint whether it be legit or not. Granted the glass was almost done, but almost being the catcher. It’s not like a warm beer with skunk at the bottom. During all this I also spotted our bartender extraordinaire roll his eyes at two different patrons, lucky for him no one saw.

We were finally sat and at 10:09 pm our appetizers arrived. We ordered the oysters which proved to be worthy and the devil eggs which proved to be deviled eggs (no wow factor). Our waiter Wes was delightful and the only one during the whole ordeal to apologize about the wait. Our entree's the grouper and shrimp were good but not over the top. For dessert the bread pudding was great and coffee service proved to be enjoyable but the ICE cream was just that a lot of ice with very little cream. Overall I think we would go back a year from now to see if they got their acts together and maybe on a weekday. I feel bad for all the people that waited as long as we did if not longer. It’s a shame when a restaurant over books what they can handle or service because of greed. In the long run it just turns diners off.
