I just had a very enjoyable dinner. I would agree that there is inadequate staff and they were out of a few things but they are most likely struggling a bit due to the sheer number of restaurants in LODO. Nothing stood out out as unacceptable for me. We had a few VERY SOLID and a few mediocre dishes but over all very promising.

The Bacon Jam appetizer is amazing, we also really enjoyed the hot wings and the spare ribs. There was some sort of crab cake thing that I didn't get to try because there were only two but the others said it was tasty.

For the main meal we all shared several of the panini sandwiches. The Korean Reuben (I think was called) was a nice fusion blend and we also enjoyed the pork belly as well. The real find was the Asian Philly though be careful of the wasabi! The only minor complaint was the choice of beef used for the Steak Frites. For $19 I would expect a better cut of meat, though the flavors were excellent.

Once was enough – This restaurant is in the old Purple Martini space so the location is great as a starting point for your evening.

Unfortunately this is where the compliments end.

When you walk in there isn't a host/hostess so you end up wandering back to the bar only for them to tell you that you need to find a server to help you. We watched this happen to every group that came in.

The service was very slow; I can only assume that this is in part due to the kitchen as well as being understaffed.

The food was average, consumable but nothing to write home about.

In the end it was interesting to try but once was enough.

Lackluster food and atmosphere – The latest in replaceable restaurants in the trendy Larimer Square area, Rack and Rye lives up to being just that: replaceable.

Ordering most of the small plates to achieve a sampling of what they had to offer introduces the mouth to overly sweet, under seasoned dishes, frequently with too much the same barbecue, regardless of the general ethnicity of the dish.

Where the seasonings were appropriate, the food was overcooked -- chicken kebabs were dry and starting to harden, pork a bit rubbery.

Also, don't be fooled by the "Sliders" menu -- they're paninis, but good enough to eat.

Beer prices were decent, but in a neighborhood packed with restaurants, there is absolutely no reason to make a return trip.
