Great looking place, great looking neighborhood, conveniently right around the corner 4,5,6 etc trains. Some of the most beautiful young & professional women i've ever seen in a dermatologist office[from the bosslady to desk operator], first visit & i had awsome microderbrasion from girl that works mondays&tuesdays(forgat her name,lol>she has a cute lil tattoo on back of neck).....affordable price on multiple package purchase, cant wait to go back, BTW>>>the boss lady also works with her twin(thought i was illusinating,lol)....name:taylor_25-30yr old ''black america male.
Inconsistent – Every time I've gone, I've heard and gotten something different. The first time was perfect - I mean absolutely instilled confidence that I would get my money's worth. The technician gave me a paper thong to put on (I was getting a combination laser treatment for my bikini and underarms purchased through groupon), gave me time to undress by myself, was very thorough and saw me on time.
However, the next time I went I had someone who watched me undress, never offered the paper underwear, and treated my appointment like it was a race. She also lasered off way more and explained that she was under the impression that I wanted my entire Brazilian done (and if that was the way she did Brazilian, I'd want my money back!) and then tried to tell me that I had used up 2 sessions that day because of it. When I explained to her that I had never asked for an that and that this was something she took upon herself to assume, she apologized and gave me back the session. I was left with a patchy, uneven hairline for weeks until it grew back.
Then, I had an appointment on a Friday, but when I showed up at 5:10 (no exaggeration!), some dude answered the door and told me that everyone had already gone home even though they supposedly close at 7!!! It takes me an hour and half to get into the city - so I basically wasted 3 hours of my Friday to be turned away. I honestly almost cried. I would have called to say I'd be late except that the last time that I did, the receptionist told me that as long as I was within 15 minutes of my appointment, it wasn't a big deal.
Lastly, I waited 45 minutes for my appointment!!!! Granted, I showed up 15 minutes early, but that still leaves 30 minutes that were her fault! The worst was that I could hear her taking her sweet time with the man in there, flirting and asking some way too personal questions. In waiting for my appointment, I just couldn't help but feel like his appointment could have been sped up had she not been focusing on the conversation and taking long breaks between when I heard the machine going off. Meanwhile, someone called on the phone and the receptionist explained that a cancellation on the same day would result in a $25 fee. (What?! I canceled on the same day twice - not something i'm proud of - and I was never charged a fee.) Anyway, some other guy shows up and the receptionist finally knocks on the door to say that she's got people waiting for her. Perhaps she thought that I had just arrived when the receptionist knocked because she finished up with her customer in 5 minutes and then I swear that I have never been so rushed in my life. Maybe she thought that I showed up late, so I didn't really deserve a thorough appointment, but she explained to me that if we hurried, she could fit both appointments in (even though this guy was over an hour late for his). So... basically she wanted to rush my appointment because she was flirting with a guy who came out looking like an NFL quarterback and because of a guy who showed up an hour and a half late for his appointment? (I only know because I heard him announce his appointment time when he arrived.) Now, I get in there, she sets the machine while I'm undressing, she has me keep on my underwear (which of course gives her less access to the areas I care about her accessing), and she doesn't even give me goggles. She just tells me to look away. She asks me if I've been happy with the results and I tell her that I'm not seeing the same results I did at the other place I went to previously. She said "uh huh" and then told me that if I wanted to book more appointments I could talk to the receptionist.
I gave the place 2 stars instead of 1 because I had a really nice first experience and it was really clean. i only wish I remembered the name of the tech who took care of me the first time. She was a very tall brunette - maybe Erin? Everything else was a hot mess and the treatments weren't very effective!
I've had multiple laser hair removal sessions before but this was the first time I had such a painless session!! The laser basically felt like an ice cube running over your skin until right before she picks it up where you feel a very small heated pinch. PLUS, it only took her maybe 5 minutes to finish the entire area --it was incredible!
The service was great and the technician answered any questions I had with a smile. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.
Great experience – I got a package of 3 Brazilian lazer treatments on Daily Candy so I decided to give this place a shot. I've never had any hair removal done before, so I didn't quite know what to expect. Jolie was the technician and she was lovely. She was talkative and very sweet. There were no paper underwear given to me but I was handed a gown. The procedure was painless. I have yet to see the results as it will take awhile for the hair folicle to respond...but I had a great experience.
New Location! – They have a new location on Bond street and it's HUGE!! They apparently got new lasers because my hair removal session was virtually painless!!! I've been going to them for almost a year now and they have been great!! I've been to other medispas where the technician barely spoke english and the size of the rooms were almost the size of a closet. This place I would highly recommend!!!
Skimmed at Skinny MedSpa – I must admit the review of Yelp is far cry from all the review here on citysearch. After reading all these comments my experienced is quite different. I had Adriana (one of the twin sisters) who did my pixel treatment. She was oddly questioning what I did for a living and if I have a boyfriend, I mean mindless questions about my living situation and my boyfriend's profession. Is it completely unprofessional! Adriana should be more focus on treating it thoroughly ensuring that the client is receiving the services they purchased and explain expectations post treatment. When I purchased the package (supposedly discounted family rate through Jolie / Marissa - the other twin) I expected the services offered to be thorough. The room was clean enough which I love, however, the pixel treatment were sloppy, Adriana missed areas that were purposedly not treated and results will be uneven. Given that my agreement during consultation and pre-treatment assured me that everything will be pixeled and treatment will be from anywhere between 30-45 mins. First treatment with Adriana was only 20 mins and indicated that I will need to buy more treatment because its not what I purchased.
Besides, any oral agreements can be considered contracts. The agreement and services offered during any initial consultation and adequately expressed by any client should be rendered accordingly. It is negligent for Skinny MedSpa not to rectify and remedy the issue. If the results of the follow up touch up is completely not with what we agreed, I would rather go elsewhere for treatment and know that I will get better treatment than receive poor services from Skinny MedSpa.
The photos I took pre-treatment and post-treatment, clearly shows uneveness on the treatment. I am more displeased and it is resulting emotional trauma, aggravation and headache for me.
Let's see what the results will be - after my treatment and when its completely healed thenI will post before and after photos and you reviewers decide what you think!!
not that good – I've tried this place through a deal for laser hair removal(groupon, or something similar) and i've tried few places, each one had a different way of doing things. i got 2 areas done, brazilian and under arm. they tried hard to sell more sessions even though i had just got there and didn't even try them yet! and the girl's excuse was YOU HAVE TO DO IT ONE AFTER THE OTHER OR IT WON'T BE EFFECTIVE. something about hair growth cycle (BS in other words) my issue wasn't this. for the brazilian sessions they were never thorough. when i mentioned it to the girl that there are a lot of areas that she's not doing her response was "oh we are not allowed to touch"! an absloute lie! i've been to 3 different other places and they are all thorough and make sure they cover the entire are. otherwise the treatment is not effective which was the case with those guys. hair was growing right after and didn't see any difference. the star i gave is for a nice gesture from the last technician i had, i was using a numbing cream and she suggested the use of ice packs. they were very effective and eliminated the pain.
ANTI-AGING-try Photo Facial – I have to say I wasn't sure about trying the photo facial procedure, but now after going for my 3rd time- i love it and my skin is really looking good. The sun spots (although they were minimal to the eye) have gone away and certain redness is no longer there either.
The process takes about 15 minutes- its expensive but totally worth every penny.
the staff is very friendly and very personable too.
ANYPLACE but here – I've been there for laser hair removal for 3 sessions. They're rude, make you wait, and won't treat the entire area you think is going to be treated, especially if you've bought through Lifebooker or Groupon.They will tell you that you don't get the entire area because of purchasing at a discount. Don't waste your money - go someplace else.
I am sorry that you feel that way. When purchasing a Groupon and or Lifebooker, in specific bikini line vs Brazilian Hair Removal it is specifically a certain area for the special promotion price. Many clients upgrade however. I am sorry if you feel like myself or my staff was rude in explaining this to you, as I can assure not or intention.
