Friendly, Fun, and Festive! – I heard about Patsy's Nail Bar from a customer last week, and couldn't wait to go because she sounded Texan, so clearly, it would be a wonderful experience. ;-)
I really wanted to go because Patsy's offers Gel Shellac, which is a manicure that lasts for 2 weeks. Every time I have my nails done, the polish chips a day later, so I haven't treated myself to a manicure in over a year. I decided to partake in a massage, as well.
When I arrived at the salon, Patsy knew my name when I walked in, even though it was my first time. Rachel offered me a drink and Patsy checked me in. I was lead upstairs to the massage room, which was very quiet and dark and comfortable, with soft music and sounds playing during the massage. My massage therapist was Zak, and he was very friendly and professional. He focused primarily on areas I had requested, and I really enjoyed my swedish massage. I felt very happy and relaxed afterwards.
Next, Toiya led me downstairs for my manicure!!! I had been looking forward to this all week. When I sat down there was a little container of snack mix and a cup of water waiting for me - YUM! Patsy's pecans are THE best. Toiya and I chatted a little and watched What Not to Wear on their large plasma TV's around the room. All the other customers were very friendly and talkative too! I appreciated that Toiya really took her time and was detail-oriented when it came to my nails. 99% of other manicures I've had are over in about 10 minutes, and the ladies doing them are in such a rush to get you out, the manicure never looks very good. I was SO pleased with the time and care Toiya took with my manicure. I am glad they offer the gel shellac service, since I will never waste money on a regular manicure again. :)
When I was finished, I checked out with Patsy, who was very sweet and talkative. All in all I had a truly outstanding experience, and felt very welcome and comfortable, even though it was my very first time. I can't wait to go back!
Friendly Staff, Good Service – Patsy's Nail Bar in Foggy Bottom does a great job of catering to customers with its friendly staff and comfortable vibe. And they're great at what they do: I've had a manicure done here and was pleased with the results, as the job looked close to perfect and the polish stayed for 2 weeks. One issue I had was that the nail technician working on my hands accidentally scraped me with her file and had to soften it down after seeing what happened. It was a total accident that I wasn't too bothered by, but it brings up concerns as to how well-kept their tools are. The technician was very apologetic about it and made sure to sterilize the cut (and she gave me the files after). So despite the blip, Patsy's treats customers well.
Patsy's is the Best – I love everything about Patsy's. I always book online via Zazuba and I've never had to wait - Patsy is always there to greet me and offer me a complimentary beverage.
The staff are all excellent. Plus it's the cleanest space I've ever been in - every single tool is single use and the chairs and floor are sparkling clean.
Patsy's isn't the cheapest nail place but it's also by no means the most expensive even though it's definitely the best in terms of quality.
Citysearch Editorial Review – This Foggy Bottom day spa strikes the perfect balance between cheap-and-simple nail salon and luxury spa. Owner Patsy Tavenner lets her Texas roots shine through in the establishment's focus on hospitality; the former licensing and marketing expert for the U.S. Postal Service has thought of every detail from offering refreshing drinks to patrons when they first arrive to the nail bar's hand-picked Italian tile. The spotless, green-and-teal space features a long manicure bar, a massage room, a facial room and luxury pedicure spa chairs. Sheer curtains between each chair provide the option of added privacy for those who want to zone out in front of the flat-screen TV, and men can take it a step further on the second floor, which is equipped with separate pedicure chairs just for them.
DC's Little Secret - Nail Bar, Facials, Massage, and Wax – Patsy's Nail Bar has two beautifully decorated floors, including a private men's area, Spa services include nails, facials, eyelash and brow tinting, waxing and massage. Patsy's team takes the time to consult with you, where most nails salons, just cover up mistakes instead, not caring for them. Patsy's Nail Bar has cool and relaxing colors, with walls of original Romero Brito paintings with 47 inch HDTV's. Foot treatments are in semi-private pedicure chairs with manicures at the Italian tiled nail bar. The skin care rooms feature health and wellness products that are organic and soy based. Patsy's Facial Treatments include massage techniques that leave a client feeling like he/she has receiving a massage from face to toe!
On March 1, Patsy's Nail Bar launched the "Prettiest Hands and Feet DC Contest". Each month until July 31st, a client will be chosen as a semi-finalist in 5 age categories (categories include 20's, 30's 40's, 50's and 60+) and featured on Patsy's Nail Bar website.
