Citysearch Editorial Review – Setting up shop in the space formerly occupied by Warung Cafe in downtown’s Old Bank District, this place is not your average noodle joint. The narrow, modern space features sleek furnishings, a bit of exposed brick and food-based Asian films projected on the clean, white walls. If the regular tables are full, grab a seat at the long communal table, or settle in at the small bar in the back. Don’t expect gargantuan portions, rock-bottom prices or super authentic fare. Instead, you’ll find a small fusion-infused menu that showcases handmade noodles shaped from homemade dough. To start, there are the requisite pork and veggie dumplings (handmade) alongside more creative options like cream cheese wontons and spicy edamame served with tofu and pickled mustard greens. For the main dish, there’s um, noodles, served in soup or as an entree. Six soup selections include wonton, spicy beef stew, chicken noodle and curry seafood rice noodles. The half-dozen soupless options range from familiar beef chow fun and pan-fried selections to pork cucumber or Singapore rice noodles served with barbecue pork and shrimp. Unlike run-of-the-mill noodle shops, you’ll find a nice selection of beer, including imports like Hitachino White Ale and Nakhon Lemongrass, brewed in nearby Fullerton. There's also sweet finishers like ginger, black sesame and Thai iced tea ice cream.
