a little too friendly – I have tried Filter several times since it opened....and although the coffee is quite good in comparison to the other stops in the area...it's often not worth the wait or price. Staff is painfully slow.
There is one male staff member who is a bit too friendly for my taste .... making ordering a simple cup o' joe similar to a cheesy night club experience you'd expect see on SNL. Unsure if the complete spandex outfit he is rocking each time I visit is standard uniform - but it should be rethought by management if they expect to increase food sales. My 6 year old daughter asked "why the coffee man always wears a leotard".
Great Coffee in a Charming Coffeehouse – Though it only opened recently, Filter fits right in to the Dupont neighborhood. The attention here is on the product, with a solid menu of pour over coffees and espresso drinks. The experience is surprisingly unpretentious, and helpful staff are happy to explain options to the less-coffee savvy or just suggest a good pastry.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Former New Yorker Rasheed Jabr saw a gap in the D.C. coffeehouse scene, and indeed his Dupont spot takes java to a whole new level; gourmet lattes complete with artistic foam designs are offered alongside a variety of roasts and exotic teas.
