Treated like dirt – I was looking for a laptop case / messenger bag and thought I'd visit the Brooklyn Industries store on Newbury street because their website was offering 30% off. The styles were marginal and the quality did not justify the price, but at 30% off, I'd bite. I took the bag to the counter and nicely asked the manager if they would honor the same discount as the website. I thought that common sense would prevail, but rather, she rudely told me that the in-store sale started the next day. Was she serious? I was thinking - just take the sale! Or at least explain to me politely why you are making me come back in 16 hours for no good reason.

This manager at Brooklyn Industries did not smile, did not make me feel comfortable and actually had the attitude like I was bothering her and that I had a nerve to ask for this discount. It was quite the opposite - I was trying to give the store business, thereby helping her!

I ended up buying a great bag at the Apple Store and when I shared my experience with the friendly store associate, we both had a good laugh.

Citysearch Editorial Review – Brooklyn Industries--inspired by the art culture of its namesake borough--proffers T-shirts covered in NYC iconography, distressed denim, and jersey dresses at this Back Bay boutique for men and women. Richly textured wallpaper and vintage-inspired decor (like an antiqued hardwood floor covered with a carpet that’s perfectly granny-chic) offer contrast to the bold, relaxed style of Brooklyn Industries' merchandise. Founder Lexy Funk launched Brooklyn Industries with a line of messenger bags constructed out of reclaimed vinyl, and has since grown her brand with the support of artist partnerships and offbeat designs.
