Neighborhoods: Central LA, Hollywood
Sleek, modern hotel in the thick of Hollywood. Drais nightclub is the place to be if you're looking for some bottle service and music.
Designed with a Moroccan/Mod theme straight out of an old Hollywood film, this W is a very unique location. With the Delphine restaurant downstairs and brightly colored decor, clean elegant rooms, this is not the typical Hotel.
Known for its rooftop bar I can't stand the place, but the views are great and if you like crowds and expensive drinks with a lot of people watching it's a good place to meet up.
Something about the chain that tries a little to hard for swank hits borring more often.
Just a couple years old this swank hotel sits right in the heart of Hollywood. The use of indoor/outdoor space is exceptional and makes good use of Southern California's year round mild temperatures. See the iconic Hollywood sign from the rooftop pool, get some stress relief in the Bliss Spa or get some rest in your room outfitted with marble baths and low to the ground leather beds.

Thumbs down on pool! – When we checked into the hotel, we went up to the pool for a drink and I noticed the pool was dirty. I informed the staff, but they didnt seem to care to much. I thought they would take care of it. On saturday it was worse and knowbody seemed to want to do anything about it. Bottom line the pool was filthy the entire weekend, and wasnt drained and cleaned untill we left on monday. I was down on business and complained to the manager and he gave me a lot of excuses and then had the nerve to say I didnt pay for my room anyway, my company did. They did offer to upgrade next time, that was nice. All in All, weak. In the land of swimming pools, they should have the best. Not even close.
Great Atmoshpere....management needs to be more proffesional – I loved the atmosphere at the W. I was in town visitng from Newport Beach and had heard of the new W in Hollywood so I decided to give it a try. The hotel is gorgeous and for the most part the staff is extremely friendly and accomodating. It is a very large hotel and close to all the nightlife and tourist spots an out of towner would want to partake in. I stayed 3 nights and of those 3 nights I visited the lobby bar twice and also spent one evening at the night club on the top floor. I also had a chance to eat at the restaurant a few time and visited the spa once.
The lobby bar is great....it has a beautiful red carpet staircase and the crowd seems to be a little more upscale than its rooftop counterpart (the nightclub). The drinks were great, service was very friendly I must say that our waittress was also very easy on the eyes. I definitely was not expecting such friendly service in what I thought would be a posh new hotspot. Needless to say I was very pleased with that. On the other hand I must mention that there is one person I did not care for in the lobby bar and that is the bar manager Daniel or Dominic I believe his name is. I heard him speak very rudly to one of the waittresses and being a business owner myself I felt that his tone and volume was very innappropriate for a place such as the W. In fact, I thought he was a customer and I was going to say something to the guy until I asked one of the workers who he was and they said he was their manager. The only reason I mention this is because I read the above comment about management (specifically the manager) being rude and I felt it was neccessary to write about it in my review. The last thing a customer wants to see/hear is management reprimanding their workers....especially if you feel the service you are getting is great. The W is a great hotel with an amazing ambience and the customer wants to feel that full experience.
The nightclub on the top floor is also a nice place, but a little tricky to get into. I thought that just because I was a hotel guest I would be getting preferential treatment as far as entry, but that was hardly the case. I waited for a long time to get in and had to talk my way to even get in as quick as I did. I found that the crowd was a tad bit young for me, but the music was great and the view was amazing.
As for the other hotel ammentities, they were all very enjoyable. I love the Bliss Spa inside the hotel. I was able to sneak away for a massage and it was great. The restuarant inside the hotel is also very good. They had very good seafood dishes and I was pleased with the selection. Overall I loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again. In fact, I hope to very soon!
very "w" – I have been lucky enough to stay in some of the most beautiful hotels in the states. Although the W is lovely, everything in it, including the people, are surface. Only part that was 5 star was the swordfish at Drai's. We were there during the week, and the NIGHTS were noisy.Regardless of what room you were in, you could here people screaming through the halls.
Pool area set up like a nightclub, you feel like you have to be accepted in. Drinks at pool were $18 and they added on a 23% service fee. Might work for some, not for me!
All the bars are very happening. Girls are stunning, boys are dirty.
Bottom line, if you are over 30....W hotel in Hollywood, might not be for you.
good time – prompt reply for reservation, meet and greet at entance, table of comfort, Mgr steve and staff are a riot. W insider is a gargoyle with a hat that vaguely wants $ to go to drais so you can hang with the filth of hollywood.
Station and Living Room are upswinging – The W Hollywood has brought in Steve Lazar from the infamous Sunset Marquis Hotel to Manage there bars, the guy is a veteran in Hollywood. Not a promoter, no ego, arrogance or attitude. This dude actually does what it takes to make your experience right, he introduced my wife and I to Gerard Butler, his staff and bought us all drinks just so we could be on the level with a celeb, my ol lady was wet! The next week we returned and he sat us next to the fire pit and I think it was Jessica Biel and we had a blast. .he said its your turn tonite to live it up. .and I did, and we will ! Thank you.
