Could be a great happy hour spot – Had lunch today at Black Bear Saloon over in the NC Music Factory for the first time. Overall impression, I like the place.

One thing I don't have two thumbs up for is the service. It was pretty slack, well, more like awkward. The moment we walked in, one of the things I dislike most about dining out occurred. The old multiple "hey, how's it going?" question from two or three hosts/hostesses. None giving you a chance to respond until the last one talks, and you just smile and nod until they all are finished. Then they just stare at you strangely until you tell them how many people are dining. Anyways enough with crazy rant, back to business.

The interior is clean and fresh and has ample outdoor seating for the warm months ahead. The menu is decent sized and has pretty much anything you could want when going to to grab some American pub fare. The burgers are great, and they have a few custom burgers to choose from or you can build your own. Side dishes here are shoestring fries, sweet potato fries, tator tots, chips or onion rings. The rings are ehh.

Considering it wasn't busy at all and we were only one of three tables outside it should have been better service, but that wasn't the case. It took about 25 minutes from the time we ordered the burgers until they got to the table, which seemed a little long for two hamburgers. The waiter was a little awkward and was strange to interact which wasn't a huge problem, just didn't get a good vibe.

Like I said, overall the place has a lot of potential. I will be coming in again sometime soon without a doubt. The menu is filled with decent sounding pub food and I want to try one of the many appetizers they have (fried macaroni bites!!). I can see this being a good after work happy hour place, and obviously a place to grab a bite and drink before/after a concert at the amphitheater.
