Amazing Highlights by Emily!! – Great salon tucked away in the heart of Union Square. I had passed by this salon a couple of times since I worked in the neighborhood and picked up one of their fliers. I called to make an appointment and that is when I first met Emily. I had a couple of bad run ins previously and needed an overhaul on my highlights. I told Emily what I was looking for and was delighted when she finished and my highlights looked fabulous. If you are looking for excellent service and wonderful color, Emily is your girl. I highly recommend Stoll salon to anyone looking for a great salon experience.

Chick but not pretentious. – My search was over many years ago when I discovered Stoll Salon. What an excellent Salon, not because of the friendly, relaxed and professional atmosphere and superb artistry, but everyone there listen to what I want and add there expertise’s with honesty and knowledge. I’m very picky about my highlights and cut, I have felt like a million backs each time I have left Stoll Salon. Rosemarie and Shifa are both fantastic!! I will never go anywhere else, I highly recommend Stoll Salon.

Have a seat, get your hair done, and BREATHE – Stoll Salone has been the only hair salon I have gone to for the past 9 years. I have never gotten a bad hair cut or color. Consistency is worth its weight in gold, particularly when it comes to your hair. Beyond a great cut and color, consider it an hour or two of therapy. Stephen Stoll, the owner, is one of the most upbeat, nicest, warmest, cuddliest people you will every meet. He makes you feel good about everything. And will listen to all the drama going on in your life without judgement but always with a smile. Su is my hair stylist and she is amazing. How many hair stylists have you been to that you can say they have never once given you a bad cut. And it grows out really really nicely. The entire team is amazing. The only sad part is when they're done washing your hair because the head massages feel so good! Stoll Salon is simply the best!

Consistently excellent – I've been getting my hair cut and styled by my stylist at Stoll for longer than I can remember. It's been at least 10 years. Although the salon has undergone a couple of ownership changes, the same outstanding, talented core group has remained.

The stylists and colorists know their stuff. Not only that, but they get to know you so they can give you a hairstyle that fits your personality and how much effort you want to put into maintaining it. It's also a friendly place, always welcoming -- and very reasonably priced considering the quality and service that's provided.

best cut I ever got!!11 – I have very curly hair and Jamie gave me a beautiful cut. most people think it's easy but one bad cut sent me running to a new salon, now I'm so happy with my hair no one else will ever touch it again!!!

The search is over... – As a designer/painter I'm very critical of my own work, so when it comes to finding a stylist to cut my hair just right you can say i've run through my share of so called 'stylists' in NY. Thankfully, with the help of all the feedback on Citysearch I've found a home at Rumor Salon. Su Kim's artistry and her staffs' hospitality + level of professionalism are second to none. Thank You!

Amazing Hair Artist, Never been disappointed – I have been getting hair cuts from Cristiano for 4 years, never been disappointed. Cristiano treated each hair cut as scapturing art. He took his time making sure the entire hair cut is perfect. His hair cuts always look stylish and nature. His hair cuts are also practical, very easy to maintain at home, I don't need to use any hair products to hold the shape. I always get great compliments for my hair cuts at work & sometimes on the streets. Cristiano's creativities seem unlimited, whenever I feel like to have a make over, I just need to tell him, he always came up with something amazing.

Best Highlights by Steven – Steven is a great professional. Fast and quality work. Very nice guy. The salon has reasonable prices for Manhattan. I paid $125 plus tip for half head highlights and lowlights together. Blowdry is free with any service. I tried many colorists and he is one of the best. Very recommended.

expensive but worth every penny!!! – rumor is by far one of the best salons in new york. you can have a very trendy white-blonde rocker cut or soft waves and long layers. shifa works with you peice by peice of hair, completely open to your thoughts. she cuts slowly and never too much. i have very thick hair, and ive never liked it down till she cut it. now, its light and flowing. Steven gave me the perfect hue of blonde and even suggested lightening my eyebrows(for free!). with there work i have never felt more beautiful. be warned: if you like you hair straight, brown, natural, or work-free, rumor is not your salon. these cuts and colors are for girls who want there hair to stand out and make a statement. its about experimentation and playfulness! yes, it is expensive, but everywhere in manhattan is! this is actually one of the better ones. but be prepared to drop $250-300 (tip included)for highlights and a cut. they do try and be nice to students. i was not given tip evelopes and i was given 20% off my color when i brought in a post card located outside the door on the street. so if your a first timer, you can save a bit if you bring one of those in!

Will be flying in from SF to see Su – I've been going to Su for 3 years and she is the best stylist I've ever had. Upon moving to NYC I went through many cheap & expensive bad haircuts until I found her. Now I've moved to SF. After getting a really bad cut from a "top" SF salon, I've just decided that I'll fly back every 6 months to see her.

Su has seen me through super short to shoulder length and back to short again. Even when I was growing my hair out, it didn't seem like it because she was able to give me style at every stage along the way. Su really pays attention to how your hair grows, cutting it so that cowlicks, etc., aren't an issue. And she also really shapes the cut to your features. Besides telling her what general length I'm going for, I let her do what she wants. I always come away w/ an edgy, modern, yet soft and pretty cut. (I know those may sound like contradicting descriptions, but she does it!) She is amazing and she is the thing I miss most about NYC!

Shifa is also great. She cut my hubby's hair for years and did my hair for our wedding. If a guy will pay $100 for a haircut, you know it's gotta be good! (Also, she gives free mid-cycle clean ups.)

Some may say Rumor is expensive, but at least you are getting what you paid for. I've been to Bumble+Bumble, Fekkai, etc., and paid a fortune for uninspired cuts. Su and Shifa both really take their time to make sure your hair will look great every day - not just the day you walk out of the salon.

You should give Su a try especially if you have short girl hair. I've had too many short hair cuts that make you look like a midwest housewife, a little girl, a mid-90's clud kid. Su will make you look grown up and fabulous!
